I loved the movie.
I thought Ford was better than he had any right to be.
But I honestly think anyone here could have written a better death scene for him.
I outlined one myself a couple of weeks ago that had two members of my family in tears.
It’s a bit too dark for Star Wars…this was the main problem with ROTS, way too dark and rediculously grim at certain points…it’s not necessary…
Even Darth Vader wouldn’t have turned his sabre on an unarmed capture, he’d have just put the cuffs on and done the frozen in carbon thingy majig …
However in the defence of that scene, the aftermath almost made it ok when chewie goes crazy, you really feel the emotion then…
Maybe there is more to it though…I haven’t read the books yet and don’t know the philosophy behind kylos decision…
Also, in Jedi the emporer is really trying to dispose of Luke, so maybe this is nothing new in the Star Wars universe…

Also, considering ‘there is another’, I don’t think it would have hurt for Leia to have known andto have showed her knowing.
I’m not saying she should be ultra-Force, but hey…she heard Luke calling and turned the Falcon around once, so…
The whole c3p0 red arm thing was kind of stupid too.
.
Apparently there is a whole chunk of back story explaining this that ended up on the floor of the editing suite. Rumour is it will be bonus footage on the Blu-ray release.
Did I just watch a preview for a teaser for a trailer for a movie? FFS.
I love Star Wars but I really think Disney is going to flood us with so many sequels and prequels and standalones and character histories and god knows what else that they’ll make even me thoroughly sick of it, dilute their own product, and make a bunch of utter garbage purely cos they’ll be unable to keep all their world building straight.
Like the explosion of complete and utter skunkshit that Lucas released in the form of Star Wars novels, comics, etc through the 90s, only with hundred million dollar movies instead of moronically plotted paperbacks. Just too much volume of product being released for any quality control to be done.
Any other Star Wars nerds remember Waru? Callista, Luke’s she’s-a-robot-now-she’s-not love interest? Darksaber? The giant green rabbit guy? The Sith Lord covered in oysters? Magic force-repelling lizards? The SIX OR SEVEN times dud authors turned Luke to the dark side and then turned him back again? The SIX OR SEVEN times dud authors introduced brand new Jedi characters who were just soooo much better and cooler and smarter and more powerful than Luke that you could almost see the authors masturbating as they typed? The dozens of books going tediously into the contrived backstory of Third Guy From The Left in the cantina scene, or jabba’s palace, or vader’s lineup of bounty hunters?
We’re going to get to see all that sort of stuff, all over again, on the big screen, forever. Disney is going to squeeze this rock til it bleeds and then keep squeezing.
Lol, Thats your fault for reading all that crap, Hm.
The films , plus Splinter of the Minds Eye, are/ were the entire SW universe for me. And even then ive scrubbed episode 1 from my mind and pay little heed to specifics from II and III.
