Not loving it on the first watch… call me Ivan everyone.
Is it just me or did part of that trailer look a little bit Fury Road?good or bad? loved fury road.
Was just a glimpse that made me think of it.
No idea where i got it from but i thought Rogue One was going to be a Poe (NOT edgar allan) sidestory

hey, i loved that trailer, trying something new for the star wars film universe, thank christ.

They are planning one Star Wars universe film per year indefinitely so I’m sure it will happen. They transferred the guy that coordinated the marvel cinematic universe across to make it happen.
Hope its more memorable than the last one. I cant remember much of it at all.

The huge risk with indefinite series is that they stop being epics and start being soapies.
A good story needs a beginning, a middle, and an end. ‘Indefinite’ is just a recipe for mediocrity, decay, and confusion in the long run, just look at any plot-arc-heavy tv show. They just run out of puff after a few seasons, the change in cast & writers start to affect the consistency of character & world building, and you start to lock out new fans cos of the huge amount of legacy plot etc you need to know to keep track of what’s happening.
As long as the movies themselves are good, I don’t care how many they produce.
bit late to the party, having just watched it last night.
I’m not a massive fanboy of the movies, I like em, i’ll watch em when they are on and that, but i don’t have an absolute obssession with it like alot do.
Know it’s been brought up by a few already, but what I don’t get is this good v evil darkside v light stuff.
Supposedly the dark side is all powerful yada yada, yet even with minimal training as CB mentioned with Kylo ren, he’s still not able to crack a newbie who didn’t even know she had the good side of the force in her.
which defeats the premise of the whole thing, if someone can outwit one who is even remotely trained in the darkside, just cos she’s “fiesty” and has spirit, then the darkside isn’t really that strong a force to begin with.
prolly just me, but eh.
read some other peoples opinions on the movie and I thought soemnone summed it up perfectly.
This movie was essentially a reboot of star wars for the younger generation to get in on at the ground level so to speak. Whether that’s good or bad who knows.
Wouldn’t say i enjoyed the movie, wouldn’t say i didn’t enjoy it. it just was.
I did enjoy the new droid though. always bums me out though when I see robots cos I want a cool one like that, or one like bender from futurama.
No. No. No. Quicker. Easier. More seductive…

Really depends in how they build from movie to movie. Marvel have a roadmap 5 years out. They know where they are going, what they want each movie to achieve. And they don’t mind trying. Few different genres to shake things up a bit.
Star Wars can go one of 2 ways. They can come up with a new big bad enemy and slowly build to that, or they can find interesting small stories that stand up alone. If they don’t figure that out, it will become a disjointed mess that has no feeling of consequence.
I think this is one of the most memorable films of this century so far…
No joke…
Loved it…
Really enjoyed Looper as well and looking forward to what Rian/JJ combo will provide…
Two more sleeps.
The Blu Ray is out since Monday as far as I know…
So it’s available now…

I think as time goes on ive begun to look at this movie less and less favorably
once the veneer of star wars wears off, for me, it just becomes a very bland and dumbed down reboot
i can not think of one reason why id watch ep 7 over any of the other star wars movies… whats original in it, whats exciting in it? where are the interesting original characters? wheres the mysticism and sanctity of the subject matter of the movie (the force/ jedi) that sucks you in?
definitely feel like its tried too hard to please crowds and set up a sequel that its forgotten to be a movie in its own right
really needs a strong episode 8 to pull it out of becoming just another generic action/ adventure movie
Like I said in my post, I saw a description on the movie that stated it's essentially a reboot of the star wars series for younger generations to hopefully get sucked in.I think this is one of the most memorable films of this century so far...No joke…

It is essentially the same movie as ep 4, just you know with young people diversity, chick lead character, token black guy etc etc.
Will be interesting to see if the next ones line up following the same path as movies 5 and 6 and it just becomes a full blown reboot, or whether they try and make eps 8 and beyond, go down a different path.
So this new one is between 4 and 5?
I get a strong impression EpVII was written with the long term game plan in mind. I think it will hold up much better in the long term if this is the case.
That trailer made me less sure that I want new Star Wars every year.
I’d watch a spin-off dedicated to life on the road with the Cantina Band from Ep#4. How’d they end up in that dusty sh*thole on Tatooine? Do they have dreams of one day performing for The Emperor? Group adventures after staffies at the end of the night? It would be great.
