Id use him as a winger as well if needed, he can play anywhere really. But at this stage he is still behind those two and i could still see us favouring players like Baguley ahead of him. Also he recently signed a 2 year deal haha
- Sam Walsh - Josh Kelly
- Bailey Smith - Shaun Higgins
- Ian Hill - Lachie Hunter/Cyril Rioli
- Rhylee West - Lachie Neale

And not far behind
Chayce Jones - Matt Guelfi
Xavier Duursma - Cam Guthrie
Jack Bytel - Matt Crouch
Tom Berry - Patrick Dangerfield

Zac Butters - Dayne Zorko
Ned McHenry - Devon Smith
Sydney Stack - Walla
Mitch Riordan - Mitch Wallis
Luke Foley - Mitch Duncan
Some very hard comparsisons, of course not all of them are just mids like Taylor and Butters but they can go in the middle but finding comparisons for them is a pain in the â â â . Its more traits than anything because alot of these players are unique.
RC-D reminds me of Jack Crisp, height, speed, skill, size, contested ability, canât accumulate that well.
I see Stack as a Dahlhaus, Devon Smith and Miller type. Small hard working, balanced with a bit of class and ability up forward.
Just had a quick look at yesterdayâs SANFL stats.
Rankine had only 9 touches for 0.4 for Westies against Centrals in a winning side.
Hately had 18 touches and 1.1 for the losers
RATS!!!
It appears at this stage, if we can get a in the top 6 then there is a good chance of getting someone who has been touted as potential number 1 recently.
1 King is doing his rehab at the saints, assume he is gone. Walsh and Lukosious to go 1 and 2. Leaves Rankin, Smith and the other King. Then into. Range of F/S, academy players.
Match against Freo is pivotal. Hard to see us finish bottom 6 if we win.
Happy to be corrected, but it seems if you are picking 7 or 8 then itâs pretty flat to 19. Top six picks is where to be?
Sounds like you want us to lose
Sadly I would be accepting of that. Not tanking. But playing the team for 2019 and seeing what happens. If the kids win and we finish 9th. Great. But if we donât play them and we finish 9th then itâs a double waste.
Who are these mythical 2019 first team players that are playing well in the 2âs at the moment? Apart from Francis.
If we get Mitch Wallis, as has been reported, heâd likely play Baguleyâs role. And can rotate through the middle. Same with Dahlhaus if we can convince him too.
I donât disagree with that, but we canât play them next week and even if we could it wouldnât help us lose
The only ones would be Laverde and maybe mynott. Fantasia could come in for Baguley instead of colyer and long who are âfutureâ players
35 disposals and 1.3 for Walsh against Sandringham he is still a class above the rest of the midfielders we could get at our pick.
Was there anyone tearing the house down the last couple of weeks? I defer to DJR. However if we are sitting here next year this time and Mutch, Clarke, Ridley BKZ only have a few more games to their names then we have messed up.
If they have played the bulk of the 2019 season then that shows we should have been spent this time getting experience into them.
Itâs unfortunate, but barley wonât be playing in our next premiership or likely our next final. Same with Goddard.
Dare I saw it, but north got their clean out right.
Our better approach would be to tell them thanks but you are done. You get a farewell match agains the tigers at the end of the year.
Of course, if you think we can make finals then push with the best team available. I donât think we will make finals.
I disagree on Clarke, Mutch and BKZ.
Our current midfield in the 1âs is pretty young. The only midfield spot that should be up for grabs is Myers. There is every chance that weâll pick up someone or even draft someone in the top 10 who goes straight past Mutch and Clarke and takes that spot. Or Begley might.
Iâm not convinced theyâll ever be more than fringe players. Theyâll get a chance at some point as a result of injuries. theyâll need to take that chance.
As for BZK, heâs a KPD. Do you really think heâs going past Hurley or Hooker by next season?
Ridley yes⌠but his form has dropped away badly the last 2 weeks. He needs a good game to start pressing his claims again
Valid points. However my initial point stands.
Putting side academy picks etc there appears to be a top 6 in this draft that is better than the rest buy a margin. If we could pick up a smith or rankine then Iâd be happy to play any untested players we have.
I am not suggesting tanking and I am not suggesting Jerrett, just yes out some of these guys to see where they are at.
If theyâre banging down the door in the VFL, then sure bring them in, unfortunately they are not. Clarkeâs form has tapered off, so has Mutchâs, Ridley been quite down recently, Zerk-Thatcher is still too raw atm and he is behind Francis who canât get a game. Mynott and Draper might be in with a sneaky shot in the last few games but unlikely.
Francis, Laverde and Ridley (if his form picks up) are the only ones who I see getting a look in barring catastrophe.
You ARE suggesting tanking. Youâre talking about deliberately weakening the side with the knowledge it might net you a better draft pick.
Personally, I think the attractiveness we get from finishing strongly to players weâre suiting is more important, plus establishing a winning culture.
ButâŚbutâŚonce I start researching the draftees, I want them sooo baaad.
It would be deliberately weakening the side if we rested Hurley and hooker to give Francis and Ridley a go. If we rest T Bell to give Draper some experience.
Doing so with Goddard and Bagley is simply planning for 2019 not the next 6 weeks.
Now, I donât think these two should go on. If others do then fair enough. However, there is also no guarantee that it would be detrimental to the team performance.
If we get 5-6 games into these guys and we win that is great. If we lose, less great. It at least they get 5 or 6 games into them and we might get a better draft pick. Both outcomes are wins.
Playing Goddard and Bagley and winning an extra game or some is not a win to me.
That said, if you are thinking we can make finals, then go for it. Best available every match and form based.
