Tasmania - stole GWS media guy and $1B

It will have a niche I imagine…money talks…but cost of living should be better in Tas.
Those who want farms would have opportunities
Hobart - similar to Geelong in some aspects.
What do players do outside of footy time anyway
surfing - beaches in hobart, can head to west coast if want some bigger waves.
fishing - plenty of spots in and around hobart
golf, - plenty of courses
gaming - online

Yes its cold, but new facilities
could have bucks as coach
whole community would get around them

Partying - well just stay over in vic after games and head to Revs/kittens etc

Imagine being on a rookie contract living in Sydney

I think the report of the death of the Tasmanian team has been extremely over exaggerated. The KPMG findings, was always likely to provide this result, nothing has really changed as long as labour continue to support the stadium, they need to win 2-3 independents.

There will be a parliamentary vote later this year. It must pass both state houses. Unless this report changes things (and it may), it passes the lower house easily. The upper house is the more difficult vote.

3 libs - yes

3 labour - yes

1 green - no

8 independents - they need to win atleast 2 to get it through. So they’ll need to do some politicking, but I still think it’s the most likely outcome.

Personally the spot they chose for the facilities is awful, so they couldn’t even get that right. It’s down in Kingston which is south of the city and a bit of ■■■■ hole. The area that made sense was Rosny the site of an old golf course.

That’s how the AFL works: privatise the revenue, subsidise the costs.

To anyone that knows what’s going on here, what’s all this means and how does it impact timelines?

What does your contact via the commission think of Richard Goyder and how ordinary he has been as chairman and how selfish his recent behaviour has been in trying to rule from the grave?

I doubt the local unions will allow labor to back out of it anyway. Which is a good thing in this case.

Not a clue.

Excellent, hopefully no Tassie team.

Wait til they restrict the father son rule to

Cousin Cousin - Son rule.

Geez I can’t believe 6 of those GWS intake ended up on our list over the years.

Delay the team until 2030.

Give Norf exclusive rights to Tassie academy until then.

Keep Bewick, keep the draft less compromised whilst we are a bottom 3 side , retain our beautiful NGA zone and then watch all the Tassie norf kids abandon them when Tassie starts back up.

Pay attention to three comprehensive reports that state unequivocally that it will be a massive drain on Tassie taxpayers for years with a cost blowout over a billion while being governed by a deeply incompetent mess of people, a shittshow for infrastructure and traffic, unpopular with locals, in a small city that relies on its heritage and natural beauty for international tourism, and kicks along pretty well as it is with arts festivals and a fast growing adventure sports industry. Don’t ■■■■ with a good thing you ■■■■■■■ idiots looking for easy money and jobs for mates. Grow some balls and pressure the AFL to direct the promised development funds to local leagues and build them back up, no strings attached because they benefit from the yield. They don’t want a Tassie team, they like the situation exactly as it is.

The AFL are putting 350 million into grassroots Tasmanian footy across 10 years, that’s a massive amount. On the stadium, 70% of Tasmania’s voted for pro stadium parties at the last election and that area at Macquarie point is a dump, that has been left to rot with no development for decades.

So revamp an existing stadium.

An area rotting and the AFL using shifty accounting (how much of that 350 will go on bonuses and communication specialists “facilitating”) does not justify a clearly unprofitable and unnecessary investment.

Conditional. And as I’ve provided over and over, amazing MONA plan for Mac Point accepted then mysteriously trashed by Libs owing to ‘potential commercial development’. Corrupt and crap. Mac Point would be a beautiful tourist drawcard this very day and one of the first points of destination for the huge cruise ships that come in and spend serious bucks.

The Tasmanian government has promised to cap its stadium spend at $375 million in “capital” costs. The Commonwealth has committed $240 million to the precinct and requires a plan that includes housing.

The AFL will provide $15 million — while also adding significantly more for overall grassroots football support. The AFL media rights deal is $4.5b pa.

Aside from the fact all this is still around $500m short, the AFL is offering just over 1% of the stadium cost? Hard to believe they actually want Tassie in the league.

I’ve maintained they don’t want them in the comp. It was more of a “throw them a bone” move and the AFL are hoping it falls over.

They want 20 teams so I think they would like to wait until 2 new clubs are ready.

Maybe in 5-6 years time as zero chance Tassie stadium is ready by 2028, it’s at least 3 years away if it got the go ahead today

Time to wrap up this charade and start working on the Bali team.

WA 3 will be the one they are waiting for
