Thanks.

Taking a quick look now. Did you have the confidence to lock yourself in for a long term plan with them(express)

Yes. Iā€™ve used them for maybe 18 months or so

I first used VPNs over 20 years ago. In those days, the main purpose was to lower ping times for MMO games where the servers you wanted to play on were based in US. They reduced lag by a large amount. From 1 second plus, to more like 150 ms.

People still use them for games, as ISPs can route weirdly so your ping could be 50-100ms higher than it should be, for no discernible reason

DNS Over HTTPS is another alternative if vpns arenā€™t your go.

If privacy is your concern, donā€™t get a free VPN. Also check for ones that havenā€™t had DNS leaks and are no-logs

I actually want to use it to watch streaming from overseas.(eg either our streaming services abroad or overseas tv networks when at home in Oz). So speed is probably good as well as being adept at not being detected by streaming IT departments.

If it worked for of course totally legal torrents that would be good too.

Itā€™s probably the best service for that use

I have SurfShark but. Only use it on the pretty rare occasions I need access to torrents.

Or when iā€™m o/s.
