The 2022 Cricket Thread officially here

Why not Antarctica, then?
Never rains there.

A Alice springs or Darwin test would be pretty good to broadcast.

Channel 7’s Electronic Programme Guide for the Ashes does not include the word “cricket”.

Pls.

At least I’m glad to realise it’s still on FTA.

Give the people what they want - two Tests at the G. They’d play every Test there if I had my way.

Why couldn’t the First Test been in Perth ?

Seems sensible and fair.

Because they’re banning everyone from entering.
Seems sensible and fair that it also applies to cricketers.

Approved travellers from high risk jurisdictions:

Approved travellers include:

  • certain senior Government officials

  • certain active military personnel

  • a member of the Commonwealth Parliament

  • a person carrying out functions under a law of the Commonwealth

  • a specialist or category of specialist required for the performance of time critical services where the specialist’s skills are not otherwise reasonably available in Western Australia who is approved by the State Emergency Coordinator or an authorised officer; or

  • any person or category of persons who has been approved by the State Emergency Coordinator or an authorised officer.

  • Test Cricketers.

  • Apparently

they can get it when they let eastie in for his placement.

Except they are not banning everyone. We had a GF there as I remember.

It could have been worked out.

It could, but I’m sure none of the cricketers want to work it out, thank you very much.

This probably belongs in the blame thread, but I get it. I really do.
You’ve got no covid, your economy’s ticking along nicely, and you want to keep it that way.
That’s great.
But you can’t also have a great big sook when people tell you to blow quarantine out your ■■■■.

I’m not sure how. QLD offered a better quarantine package and WA weren’t prepared to budge on their restrictions.
It’s great that they have lost the test and hope other sporting bodies follow suit. If our stupid government doesn’t pull their head I hope we lose our test aswell

So how is the Sheffield Vic vs WA going ahead in early Jan ?

Didn’t people say the exact thing about Warner back when he started in T20?

No idea.

But Lynn is 31 and his technique is getting worse.

So I’m not really sure what your point is.

It’s news to me @Bacchusfox has moved to WA…! At least there are fewer rednecks in WA than in Houston.

I project all my venom at bacchus personally, but he knows that.

No guarantee it is going ahead. Currently looking at altering the fixtures. Likewise with the BBL fixtures.
I believe the WA AFLW sides have already been informed that they will need to hub elsewhere for start of season too

I am surprised that the WA Government and CA went through the charade of giving Perth a Test match this summer - Teams were never going to play under quarantine conditions - And even the hare-brained scheme to switch test matches with SA is fraught with danger, because what happens if there is an outbreak of COVID cases in QLD - WA will shut the borders.

Nope, wrong on two counts.

  1. Still in the Marsh, but searching for a new home in FNQ.
  2. Just as many rednecks in WA as in Texas, maybe more, but with fewer guns.
