Only way I see it playing out that makes any sense would be if we traded our F1 in a straight swap for a pick that would be guaranteed to fall before a Kako bid leaving pick 9 free to be used as needed.
Opposition teams would be banking on us sliding next year so can imagine teams like GC, Melbourne, Saints and Crows could be tempted into doing a straight swap.
In last year’s Futures game, Xavier Lindsay showed us a glimpse of what he might be capable of as a rebounding defender. Tough in contested situations and elite with his disposal off half back, taking on creative and difficult options and executing with ease. One of the best performed players on the day.
I would be auctioning our pick 9 for a future 1st and whatever other picks we can get. We will no doubt take Kako which is a gift and whoever else late this year.
My main focus is make a coup for Harley Reid next year who will be in year 2 of his 3 year contract. For wce he will have most of his currency next year and this is our opportunity to lure him home. He has close ties with caddy and duursma as we know.
Our traded in 2025 1st, our 2025 first, future 2026 first and a 2025/2026 second rounder.
This would be possibly the biggest trade in terms of draft value.
Horne Francis went for #2, #3, #40, #43, #2023R1 (Port Adelaide)
Jez Cameron went for #13, #15, #20, #2021R4 (Geelong)
I wouldnt be surprised if this is already in play from our recruitments due to us being quiet this trade window and having quite a bit to spend.
I think there’s a bigger picture here.
See this is the type of player we should be going for, he has a bit of a rananaskaus vibe.
Someone that is a lovely kick of the ball, tough, country lad but a midfielder who could play half back initially for us, then develop into an elite mid over time.
Essendon typically go for someone that’s an underage half back flanker and can’t play anywhere else at afl level coz they’re used to playing the easiest position on the field through juniors.
Not really seeing it with this Kako.
I think he’ll drift like Davey did come the draft. Maybe not that far but I just don’t see anything special. He seems more of a tiny midfielder rather than gun small forward.
Yep. Will be hard for wce to turn down that offer. Or they risk losing their bargaining power the year after when hes ooc. ALl those first rounder will highly likely be top 10s
