I was more commenting on the view held by some when there was discussion on here of ESS trying to turn pick 9 into an earlier pick. Many said that it would be a waste as we don’t need a midfielder, implying that we can only pick as per the touted draft rankings and not who we wanted.

I’ll probably get this wrong, but I think we have the following list spots available:

  • Total List Size (37-42): currently 34 (so 3-8 total spots open)
  • Senior List (36-38): currently 31 (so 5-7 spots open)
  • Rookie (0-6): currently 3 (so 0-3 spots open)
  • Rookie B (0-2, outside of list): currently 0 (so 0-2 spots open)

McGrath is 180cm and plays back pocket so not much of a height difference.

Not sure I have helped his case with comparisons to McGrath though.
