If that does play out like that, St Kilda bidding on both Lombard and Kako, that is them continuing their inequality crusade that Bassett keeps whining about in his weird a$s voice. And perhaps partially a Sos driven thing too for his ‘spurned’ pal Dodoro.

Saints also could be trying to trade into a pick in the 20s.
By wiping out Brisbane, Gold Coasts and Essendon’s picks, their 32 moves up to 29 and their 47 moves up to 37. It’s easier to trade 29 and 37 for a pick in the early 20s than using 32 and 47.
From what I can tell, the Saints are the only team with picks in the right range and the capability to bid on a player at a spot to wipe them all out. Bulldogs have the picks, but their first pick is too low.
I think the Saints will do something like a future 3rd and pick 29 for Richmond’s 20. Richmond would also consider flipping pick 24 to another team for a future 3rd and a pick in the early 30s. Richmond will want to do it if they have 10 or so players they like equally at those picks. If the draft is that even and deep, they’d have no problems trading back.

Essendon will be trading one of, if not both, picks 28 & 31 at the start of the draft for a F2 plus other picks. Take it to the bank. Not much of an incentive for the Saints after that.
