The highly-rated Shanahan remains undrafted – and the Bombers in recent months have been closely linked to the 194cm goalkicker, especially after an impressive three-game stint for Essendon’s VFL side where he kicked 11.3.
The Bombers, who are tipped to select three more players on Thursday night, hold Picks 37, 39, 43 and 60. They could use one of those selections, as well as a future second-rounder, to trade with the Tigers, who’d not only strengthen their 2025 haul but also have the option to pick again later in the second or third round.
Whitlock, too, would be a strong candidate for the Bombers.

Sorry, but this is BS. We changed everything around to maximise getting Kako for free. We went from 2 firsts and 2 seconds across 2024/2025 without Kako to 2 firsts, 4 seconds AND Kako. Of course we wheeled and sealed to get that. Your complaining about the young gifthorse we received.

I respect your reply and reasoning. I wanted Kako first and foremost and I said Rosa did a good job? I also wanted another first round pick this year, if we finished 1-2 spots lower we could have had both.
But it only struck a chord for two reasons, neither of which are valid to my mind.

Essendon supporters is the same as my first point. It begins from having a fixed position and not willing to bend that at all. And that’s both for against the Mick Ablett point of view.

No, I disagree with that second point. There are a bevvy of draft experts that have laid out in clear and unambiguous terms why essendon had to trade pick 9. This has nothing to do with having a fixed position.

Mick Ablett’s way was to wait until draft day to trade it out. Put more pressure on the bid.
