Essendon
When?
dodoro bidding on a no one rating silvagni.
coleman (who should be ours btw)
lual
At the time Dodoro said that Silvagni was too good to fall later, and we took exactly the same type of player (Brown) with the pick. So, what evidence is there that at pick #53 that EFC didn’t rate Silvagni? Who with over 100 games to his name has definitley outperformed being selected in the fifties.
We wanted both Lual and Coleman. That isn’t bidding ‘early’ just to force a team to take the pick. That’s us hoping to get the player. The same with Mosquito.
Both efficient is my point. The fact 2MP can’t get the ball is a different point.
If a team really wants a small forward and they rate Kako in the top 10 then they absolutely should bid on him there. I hate this back scratching bullshit that goes on in draft circles sometimes.
If I remember correctly they had the next pick anyway, it was a joke between mates in Dodoro and Silvagni.
Harry Armstrong is building a strong case to be the first key forward to have his name read out on draft night. Here we see his first game back in the Talent League after an injury layoff and a break to play school footy. Not a prolific outing possession wise, but he showed how dangerous he can be with the opportunities that come his way slotting 4 goals including the game winner on the siren after a typical demonstration of his lead/mark craft.
Not at this stage. I was planning to sign up to the SANFL now service post champs… but I’m not sure I’d get enough out of it to justify it.
I might pay for a month of it once the season is over and just pump out a big block of SANFL u18’s content.
Thanks. How tall is he?
He looks pretty mobile. Can he crash packs as well?
I wouldnt say he crashes packs regularly. @THE_DON1 has used the Jye Amiss comp, which is a good shout. His 1 wood is lead/mark.
Rookieme has him at 195cm.

He moves well and seems a nice kick. How would you rate his competitiveness and work rate? And how does he compare with someone like Faull?
Bare in mind I’ve only actively watched Armstrong play 5 games of footy (he played in the first two rounds of the talent league in games I did watch but I wasn’t paying him any attention back then) which probably isn’t enough to really judge some of those subtleties, so take what I say with a grain of salt.
Opposing skill sets in some ways. There have been concerns mentioned about Armstrong’s competitiveness. His big 5 goal game in the champs he seemed more than competitive enough to me, but it has been mentioned as a concern. Faull is a competitive beast, scraps for everything, and enjoys the physical stuff.
Armstrong is a lovely accurate set shot for goal. Faull can be wayward at times.
Faull is excellent at ground level stuff, probably the best of the key forward contingent. Armstrong is okay, but its not a strength.
Faull will launch at pack marks, and loves to engage in 1v1 marking tests of strength. Armstrong is more of a lead/mark guy and has the pace to create separation. Faull can take marks on the lead, but he’s less pacy.
Faull is probably better at defensive pressure, but I’ll want to see more of Armstrong to get a better sense for that side of things.
They both have strong safe hands to mark the footy. Armstrong does that thing where he dives and scoops up marks off his boot laces, which I haven’t seen Faull do that often.
Is Kako considered part of the Elite group?
I suppose it depends what you consider elite. Its not an easy question to answer.
Personally, I have:
Draper, Jagga, FOS, Smillie
As the tier 1 group that I think would be considered elite prospects in any draft. Would sit pretty comfortably alongside last season’s top 10 for instance.
Then after that I have
Levi, Lalor, Trainor, Allan, Lombard, Hotton, Langford, Reid, Lindsay
Most of this group for me would sit towards the back end of last years top 10, alongside guys like Caddy, Connor O’Sullivan and Ethan Read.
Then I have Kako, Armstrong, Berry and others in the next group… who I still rate as excellent prospects. I’d still pick anyone in this third group comfortably ahead of any player outside of last years top 10.
Its just a really even and deep pool, as has been said many times already.
Thanks, that paints a clearer picture. It sounds like Faull is a bit like Caddy. I like the sound of him, especially how he likes a scrap, but wonder if we need two of his type in the forward line. Ideally, you’re looking for complementary forwards who balance each other out, and Armstrong could be that player. My only concern is the query on his competitiveness.
Caddy is more of a leaper and more nimble at ground level, Faull is more bollocking and will crash a pack moreso than Caddy jumping over it.
