Appreciate that.
I want to win the last game to finish on a high.

I think I’ve already addressed all these points earlier in the thread. When I talk about drafting a leader, I’m not talking about drafting a nice private school boy who speaks well into a mic and who’s family is part of the right private members clubs (McGrath).
I’m also not saying that we should be drafting a midfielder. I said multiple times in fact that midfield is low on the positional priority list.
I’ve also never been stupid enough to suggest that we DON’T take Kako when he’s been gift wrapped and presented to us. I would have advocated picking him anyway, and this NGA change is mana from heaven.
What I said was… and I feel like I’ve repeated this already a bunch of times. I feel as though our most pressing list need is intense competitors. Guys that will demand higher standards from themselves and everyone around them. Guys that want the big moments and lift their teammates with their actions on field.
If that type of personality is also a strong positional need like a key forward or a rebounding defender then all the better. But if its someone like a Harvey Langford or a Xavier Lindsay… guys that will probably start their careers in the forward and back lines respectively but who may well end up as midfielders in the long run… I’d be weighting personality type higly among the list of desired criteria right now.
We’re desperate for the next group of youngsters that emerges to have a stronger character and a more intense competitive spirit.
Understand what you’re saying there. I would put the only players on our list that show those trait, as the only players we absolutely must not trade… Merrett, Durham, Duursma, Martin, Caldwell, Caddy… not sure how many more we have tbh… we simply need more players where effort is never in question
Take Armstrong and build around him and Caddy.
Try and trade a McGrath, Redman, Ridley or similar to get another pick before Kako.
Make some moves and gut this spineless list.
Went and watched my mates lad make his league debut in the SANFL today and geez he was impressive. Under age player too so has another full year of SANFL to come
Yeah I noticed his numbers looked great, had 8 tackles in the first half.
Get in the ear ACE cmon about time you started pulling your weight around here

Kako and sell the farm for Harley Reid. Trade Parish, Shiel and possibly Perkins.
are you suggesting Parish, Shiel and Perkins is ‘the farm’?
Unfortunately @aceman is talking about Dyson Sharp who’s going to be pick 1 next season, so we’d have to take a serious dive to be in contention.

I’m too old(ish) and cranky to leave. I’ve reached the “old man yells at cloud” stage of my life.
This is a new account, I remember posting on old blitz back in the early 00s when it was still a normal web page with a forum bolted on.
Mate! This is too good, please share your early 2000’s alias! I have been a member since 2005 (ex-dannyboy007) username lost during saga overloads.
Fark, I’ve basically been on blitz since we last won a final…and drafted Angus Monfries.
Honestly can’t remember what the old ones were. I seem to remember having to create a new one when the site was migrated over to this platform… or maybe there were a couple of moves? Its been a while. I stopped following footy as much when the saga kept dragging on sapping all enjoyment from the game, so I stepped away from posting for 6-7 years, maybe longer.
Crazy to think we were posting on blitz back when essendon were contenders. More than 20 years!
I remember 2005 well actually as that was the first time I started paying attention to the draft. Paddy Ryder and Courtney Dempsey if I remember right. Then that disasterous 2006 draft with Gumby, Jetta, Hislop, Davey, Reimers, Houli.
Bo Allen looks the goods as well

Unfortunately @aceman is talking about Dyson Sharp who’s going to be pick 1 next season, so we’d have to take a serious dive to be in contention.
dont threaten me with a good time
Watching a bit of the other games at home now and Sid Draper showed some real class at times, saw a fair bit of Rozee in the way he plays
I’ll definitely get a video up for Sid, and I’d like to do Dyson as well if I have time tomorrow.
Spent time this week with a guy who spent 10 year + as a recuiter for another club. Generally favorable about our list… said Tsatas’s kicking will always be an issue though. ‘You can get an 18 year old’s action fixed… but under pressure it will revert to what he has done since he was 6 years old. Get him to handball 20 times a game’
So the Parish role. Although we have Parish for another 5 years playing the Parish role.
Any other thoughts about specific players mentioned?
Love this.
If we take another nice boy from a good family and a good school with our first rounder this year I’ll spew up.
Give me a country kid with a big heart. No idea who this is but I’m sure there’s a few who fit the bill.
I’m happy with caddy, but some might remember me harping on about wanting to pick Darcy Wilson last year at our pick (before we live traded).
He is the exact type of player we should be building around, country, great athlete, good size, decent kick and tough. I couldn’t believe he slid to the teens, he has every attribute you look for in a footballer, which he is showing in his first year.
