The 2024 Draft [no longer spec] Thread

Yeah Lalor does look a gun but feels like we’ve pushed ourselves out of his range.

What exactly in that video does he do that a 19 year old Tsatas doesnt do each week at Vfl level?
I dont really see much difference between them when watching that.

Foot skills aside Tsatas literally does everything else and more in the vfl each week.

I vaguely remember that you thought Faull might be a good option for us. What can you tell us about him?
Roughly, where do you rank Armstrong, Shanahan and Faull?

Is there any chance that Smillie drops to our pick?

That may be so but you can’t put a price on the benefit that our culture enriching win against Freo will provide us.

I wouldnt have thought so but who knows in this pool? Its really even and deep.

Ive not seen Tsatas show any mongrel what so ever id say that’s the big point of difference.

This is what does my head in. Tsatas fans act like it’s not important.

Faull is a key forward in the “bustling” type of mould. He’s very good at ground level, loves to compete in the air, enjoys the physical side of it. Pretty good hands. Not as quick or athletic as other key talls in the pool but more physical and competitive.

He came on my radar with a fantastic run of games at the back end of last season and looked like the best key forward prospect in the 2024 pool at that stage. He missed the preseason with a back injury, and the first two months of the season. He then had a couple of other niggles when he got back. Hasn’t really shown his best form this year, so he’s sliding down the draft order. Probably a 30+ pick at this stage.

Lalor is also a very accomplished medium forward who takes screamers and kicks bags of goals.

Sounds like Stringer.

I agree, my only point is that it is not necessarily the bloke who has played in our vfl side. The a a few key forwards rated ahead of him that could be available at our pick

Yep I initially mentioned him primarily as a Stringer replacement with an actual work ethic.

We’ll beat that work effort out of him in no time.

No more medium forwards, give me small crumbing forwards with pace or a big boi.

Reckon Lalor is a lot more dynamic at ground level than Stringer or Langford… plus he’s a tackling/pressure animal, averaged 7.5 tackles per game last season, and over 6 the year before that.

Lalor, shanahan or berry, the latter two might be a reach, but we need to go with the best of what we actually need, our list is so unbalanced and Scott won’t play them if there are back in the pecking order anyway. I definitely don’t want a half back flanker with a top 10 pick though.

We’d be a bit more comfortable if we somehow managed to get a late first and secure Shanahan with that before needing to match on Kako right? Not sure I see it with our pick 8, despite our years of average drafting it’s probably not the draft to be taking massive risks with

All I know is we’re probably gonna need to cough up for a slab for @noobermensch by the end of this draft period lol

I’d settle for not hounding the guy off the forum tbh.
