Drove up to the high country a few weeks ago. Weather was brilliant so we decided to drop into the Jamieson Brewery. What a great place. Right on the shores of the Howqua.
Had a lovely pint of American Brown XBA. Rich, malty and smooth.
Took some home along with an Irish Red - toasty caramel with a slightly bitter aftertaste. Love it.
Thatâs a shame, I hope thereâs no financial struggle behind the scenes ala so many others. I really rate their stuff.
Yeah itâs pretty sad, I rate their beers too. I tend to go up to Brissie once or twice a year and always make a stop at Range there, but Iâve still enjoyed many brews here in Melb, especially before heading off to the Park Hotel to watch games etc.
By a group of people already owning it⌠Itâs a bit smelly to be honestâŚ
There absolutely would be. No other reason to dump their Melbourne venue.
Yeah, obviously not working as an expansion, I just meant I hope theyâre stable up north and not about to go under.
Wouldnât count on it. But at least they seemingly have some fat to cut.
I was suss too but I know of one bloke who is working there that was probably part of the group that bought it out and if heâs sticking around Iâm inclined to think that a feasible part of the underlying business is sound. Have to wait and see.
Certain members of the previous ownership deliberately precluded from the buy back as well as I understand?
So maybe cutting some of the bad decision making and cooked business admin from the company?
Iâm not close enough to it to know that, but it wouldnât surprise me.
Compliments of chat GPT -
In the heart of Melbourne, a tale unfolds,
Of a brewery famed, where stout tales are told.
Range Brewery stood, a fortress of cheer,
Pouring out barrels of legendary beer.
In the days of yore, where the Yarra does flow,
Crafted with care, their brews did bestow.
Golden and dark, from the tankards theyâd stream,
Filling our hearts with a hoppy daydream.
But whispers arose, like a chill winterâs night,
Of the last call approaching, dimming the light.
For the halls of Range, where laughter did roar,
Would echo no longer with ales we adore.
Oâer the cobblestone paths, our feet took their way,
To the fabled old door where our thirst would allay.
But alas! It was shut, the barrels ran dry,
The fate of our tavern made many folk cry.
My gullet, it yearns, like a warriorâs quest,
For the taste of their brew, the froth of the best.
No more shall I savor the rich, malty gold,
No more shall I sing of the stories they told.
Oh, Range Brewery, with your banners now furled,
A beacon of joy in the modern world.
Though your fires are cold, and your kettles are still,
The memory lingers, the tankards weâd fill.
So, hereâs to the nights by the old brewerâs flame,
To the camaraderie, the friends we would name.
Though the doors have now closed, and the barrels no more,
In our hearts and our thirst, Range Brewery will soar.
Bellwoods are very good if you come across them again.
Oh myâŚgood? Looks deelish
