Did someone leave/have to depart or is this an expansion of the board?

Always concerning when you first find out about this news on LinkedIn

She’s a top person. Everyone at Qantas and Jetstar very much like and respect her for all her acumen and achievements.

However, wasn’t the board voting already conducted? I wasn’t aware anyone was leaving or she was put up for a vote. Maybe I didn’t pay close enough attention.

There can be 6 appointed directors and 4 elected.

Just checked on the website and there are 9 directors, so there must have been a vacant appointed director position.

DEI is strong at Essendon. That’s about the only thing that is strong.

What’s DEI about a white woman with multiple decades worth of experience in executive roles in multi billion dollars industries getting a gig?

Nothing about it is DEI. Catriona is a tremendous candidate.

Seems to be on the Athletics Australia board as well. Might know a few S&C people

It’s more a reflection of the board, than her as a person/candidate.

As with anything related to the Essendon board, I really wish I could view something without being suspicious?
Who is she mates with?
Whose position needs shoring up?
Which of the current board members is she in business with?

The board should be viewed with deep suspicion until they give reason to be viewed otherwise.

Not sure about that but I do agree she has mostly been good at her job

This is the main point.

This could well be a great appointment.

My main issue with the Board is that there is only 4 voted positions, and then 5 appointed positions.

This means that the members don’t have the power to make meaningful change. As we have seen over the years, the board has been filled with ‘yes men’ that will serve the agenda of who ever has power.

This is why we’ve been in no man’s land for 20+ years.

Here I was thinking it was the bomber shop promo codes sent after a win.

I’m shocked she’s not a retired aged white dude with a background in senior management.

What is the split like at other clubs? Imagine the ex Essendon players with a property and or finance background we could vote on with more member elected positions at our disposal!

I know an awful lot of people from there, never heard anyone say poor things about Catriona.

No one should be appointed to the Board at EFC without it being voted on by the members!! :rage:

No your right, her being a woman had nothing to do with her being appointed.

I’m not saying it’s a bad thing, as she is qualified, but don’t tell me gender had nothing to do with it.
