Caught STP last night. Very good. The new (well 7 years new) lead singer is great.

Awesome, I’m going tomorrow night. One of my all time favorite bands and I still listen to them more than any others.

We got Purple end to end and then 5 off Core to finish the show.

The band are tight as.

AFI playing a terrible setlist. Was hoping for lots of Sing the Sorrow.

Was a great first half, played some absolute rippers first up. The wind down in the second half was a bit flat IMO, needed to pace themselves. Overall, a great show and the final song was classic, just needed to save a few rippers for the end.

I’m not the biggest Green Day fan, but that was an incredible show. Good vibes all around.

same! we had a great time :slightly_smiling_face:

After seeing The Mars Volta debut a yet unreleased album in full, opening for the Deftones in the US, I’m hoping this incarnation of the band, being a 7 piece with dual vocals, lands in Australia soon

I made the long drive across to Adelaide, to the Pirate Life Brewery 10th Birthday.

Was a massive festival headlined by Pennywise and Millencolin.

Plenty of beer, plenty of punk rock.

Sounds like we got the same last night, maybe only 4 off Core. They were incredible, so many awesome songs, my 12yo loved it too.

Cool and good stuff!

Yeah I couldn’t believe how many people were at the gig who were under the age of 40.

I mean yes STP are kinda almost ultimate dad rock these days. Perhaps some older dads were bringing their teenage sons and daughters.

Very tight and very good. I mean noones going to bring peak Weiland but I don’t think even Scott Weiland brought his “peak self” that often.

The deleo’s and ketz are as tight as ever. I think they are 3 of the best musos out of that Californian era.

■■■■ yeah! Me and my boy were about 30m from the stage. Had him up on my shoulders during that middle section of songs… 21 Guns, Minority, Brain Stew, American Idiot, Jesus of Suburbia, Holiday, Blvd.

Honestly, it doesn’t get any better… Core memory secured for both of us.

Probably easier to drive to Adelaide than get across m to where they were playing in Melbourne at PICA. Love both bands, but poor venue selection for Melbourne fans.

Saw Shihad at the Corner last night for their farewell tour, with Bodyjar supporting. (Bodyjar are still a really tight live act).

They played the General Electric album in full. It’s always a bit a hit-and-miss when a band plays an album from start to finish, especially when the first 5 tracks are by far the best 5. So the gig started with an absolute blast, and then kind of faded out a little. But they did close with a mini set from a mixture of all their other albums, so it rounded out ok.

I saw Shihad play quite a lot when I was younger, but I can’t believe I’m so old that I’m seeing bands do their full career life cycle and then retire.
