Was always one of my favourite local acts, even after some of the lineup changes
But you’re right. Follow a band ‘from conception to the grave’ is a strange dichotomy.
Yes, some bands should’ve given it away long ago, but once they’re gone it’s unlikely you’ll ever hear those songs played again live anywhere. Which is pretty sad.
There was a period in the 90’s where it felt like Shihad were opening for most of the international alt rock bands at festival hall.
They always helped set the scene for an enjoyable night.
such great guys and the album you mentioned was a classic
Have very fond memories of playing a gig with “Pacifier “& COG at The Punters club in late 2001 in a Band with @benfti
Did you see that the full REM lineup got up on stage with Michael Shannon and Jason Narducy’s band who were playing Fables Of The Reconstruction start to finish the other night? Just in a small club, it would’ve been so cool.
They were ace. I’d missed out on seeing them a few times before, so was looking forward to seeing them, and they didn’t disappoint. Loud, energetic, and intense.
It’s worth regularly checking the ticket website between now and Tuesday - a friend who used to work at Ticketmaster told me that they always released a few tix on the day of the show or a day or two before, and it’s just a matter of getting lucky with timing (I’ve gotten tix to a few shows on the day using this method) e.g. Jack White at the Corner last year).
The sound at the start of the start of the New Order gig was probably the worst I have heard in 20 years of seeing live shows.
For around $200 it was absolutely unacceptable. They picked it up by the end; but the singer obviously can’t do it anymore. It was a shame because the first few songs were my favourites of the whole set.
Do you mean the sound of the band or the sound of the mix?
Barney’s never been a great singer, but when I saw them a couple of weeks back I thought some songs like True Faith he just didn’t handle well.
I’m ok with it though, I never expect acts of that age to be nailing it, and overall it was a good sounding set when I saw them. An indoor venue for 2,500 maybe helped.
The singing was not fantastic, but it was the mix and some audio issues at the start. The sound was cutting in and out and there was popping in the speakers. You couldn’t hear any vocals.
They fixed it after a few songs, but everyone was standing around looking at each other with blank faces.
Yesterday was a big day out. Went to the Gee for the dooty, then after the game l walked from the ground to the Brunswick Ballroom, some 7.5 klm. I caught the dinner show. The 40th anniversary show for Ups and Downs. They were well supported by The Crystal Set, who l had never seen before. I went with 2 ex-students, now mates in music tastes. All 3 of us enjoyedvTCS more as the sound mix for U&D wasn’t the greatest, with the voals being overpowered. TCS OTOH had a much cleaner sound and a fabulous bass player, ex Died Pretty. This was my first gig since I saw David Bridie in the same venue.
BTW on Thursday, May 8 they are holding a 25 anniversay show for the 2000 premiersip. Guests will be Sheedy, Hird and Fletcher. FYI.
