The concert and gig thread

How did you guys get tix? Says on sale Tuesday 10am. Is there a pre-order open?

Pre-Sale was today.

Just realised Pennywise and Circle Jerks are playing a separate gigs. I may have preferred to go to that.

Circle Jerks and PW is September tho? Me First… are in Feb.

Don’t mind me.

Any Melbourne Blitzers get to KISS concert tonight?
Interested to hear any reviews / playlist
Am taking 15yo youngest Harvsfan next weekend with a mate of mine to the Saturday night show
First time I saw them was way back ‘79-80 when they played the Old Showground behind the SCG

I’ve grown up with their music but youngest is absolutely jumping out of his skin to go

I am going to the Tuesday night show. Their set list has been very similar on most legs of this current tour. Check out KISS Concert Setlist at Rod Laver Arena, Melbourne on August 20, 2022 | setlist.fm. Tonight’s set list looks bit different already! I can’t wait for Tuesday, it will be my first time seeing them live.

Check out this website for any bands set list.

But do you want to ruin the surprise?

I did a bit of a look, and it looks like the have the same set list for all their shows on this tour. That would make sense for what I imagine a show has some level of choreography, pyrotechnics etc.

I saw The Strokes a few weeks back at John Cain arena, they were fantastic. Second time round seeing them, might be the best gig I’ve gone to and I’ve seen many a gig. Just hit after hit, they have sort of become the heritage indie rock band now though.

Saw Liam Gallagher the night after same venue, it felt like an Oasis tribute band and was full of drunken pommies throwing beers up in the air… you know how they like to do that. But he was good. First time I saw him was actually over in the UK and that was one wild night.

Coming up is: Tame Impala, Kings of Leon, the Killers, Arctic Monkeys, Fontaines DC

Might go see Elton at the G and tick that off the list, though not a huge fan

Hoping the Black Keys and Arcade Fire make it down here at some point…

I’m heading down tomorrow night to see kiss. Not expecting much but always wanted to see them since a little kid . Always seemed to miss them due to playing gigs 4 nights a week since 96. Can’t wait

Saw kiss tonight instead of going to the footy. Third time I’ve seen them, the others being with the Melbourne symphony orchestra and again in 2004. They still put on a great show and are true entertainers
Sounded better than I thought they would also considering their age

Yep, been waiting a few years for this one, my original tkt was for 2019? 2020? Can’t remember it was that long ago. Think this was my 4th Kiss gig.

Anyway, awesome show, plenty of hits, one or two less well known tracks, which was a bit of a surprise. More fireworks than a Sydney New year show! For a show like this at Rod Laver there is not a bad seat in the house.

For those going they started about 9 and finished about 11:10. Late night. (They start after playing Led Zep’s ‘Rock n Roll’ in the pre show music). So if your taking a leak or grabbing a brew head back in!

Thought the crowd was ok, Aussie fans don’t tend to sing with the same passion as Euro or Sth Am fans do. Having said that, If Kiss are old then most of the crowd is just as old!

Merch - T-shirt’s $60
Hats - $50
Some sort of denim jacket - $300.

Be ready to rock and just have fun!

Thanks all for the feedback guys

Lost track of how many times I’ve seen KISS in my 55 yrs on the planet
$60 ain’t bad for a Tshirt cos my youngest has saved himself some cash to buy one. I guess Gene has made a buck or two along the journey and is now too old to gouge his fans

Really looking forward to a couple hours of escapism after the season we’ve had

I’m sorry, but yes it is.

$50 tops.

Having said that. I reckon I spent about $25 for a tshirt at the Big day out circa ‘94. So with inflation that’s probably well over $60z

I can’t tell if you’re taking the ■■■■ or not.

That’s a very diverse list of gigs, for both the bands and venues. Good for you though. Live music is always good for the soul.

100% genuine.

Acoustic

Wow so many layers lyric emotions he just has something that not many have. Stripped down you get hit hard by his life experience how it transforms into his and the bands performance.

Stood at the back just took it all in listened I don’t think I could see them again unless it was Acoustic it was just in the purest from.

And yes I got the t shirt

And it’s strange all the things that I’ve run from
Are the things that completeness could come from

yeah $199.
Haven’t been to a gig in years so I’ll head down to Sydney as it’s on a Saturday and had some flight credits.

Probs see Soulfly > 'Gurge > Jinjer > Cosmic Psychos > TISM > Gojira > Deftones (depending on times/etc)
