Talk of resting bowlers is ridiculous. Poms are on the ropes at 2/0 and bowlers have not been required to bowl long spells in either test. Pick best team with Dog and Neser out and Cummins, Lyon in. Head isn’t an opener so back to 5 meaning Inglis has to open. Not a test cricketer but he’s in and they’ve butchered replacing Warner and Uz.

They might pick bad back Koala to open. He has TOLD the selectors HE wants HIS spot back.

I’m predicting a more circumspect England for Adelaide. Stokes’ sensible second innings dig will set the tone. They will play defensively when needed, play to the clock - you know, Test cricket.

They will have a good Test, maybe even win. Ouch!

Their perceived success will be called Bazball 2.0 and they will claim credit for creating a new brand of cricket.

Or they could get spun out by Gary in 3 days trying to slog him.

I don’t know. All the talk has been “we over prepared” “I won’t have weak players in my team”

Sounds very much to me like they’re going to double down. Call it hubris, arrogance, machismo, whatever. I think they see it as “this was our plan and we believe in it”. To shy away from it now is to admit defeat and lose face. To stay the path is to invite defeat but save face.

Yeah and Lyon said his best was still ahead and he could play till he’s 87.

It’s a great test for the selectors cause there is no way Uz should be picked.

It’s incredible he’s been able to carve out the career he has had, from T20I, ODIs and even a few Tests, when he’s never turned a ball in his life

Needs new sub editor. Got the tense wrong.

EDIT I should say I am sympathetic to Josh. I love him but…..sigh.

Their preparation for Adelaide:

Travis and Jake with two momentum shaping partnerships out of 3. I wouldn’t be messing with those two just yet. They’ve given England no time to settle with the new ball and have probably contributed to them bowling so poorly and made it easier for those following.

Jake has looked very good, and we know what Travis can do. These two could potentially put something very special together. It’s very exciting.

Doggett and Neser for Cummins and Lyon is as straight forward as it comes and a significant upgrade in our ability to sustain pressure in our bowling partnerships (even considering Neser’s 5fer).

It’s tough on Inglis but I agree with O’Keefe, a transition must happen eventually. Either Kellaway or Renshaw in to open, Head to drop back down.

Is that AI? Jofra’s necklace isn’t that thick, surely.

If they’re gonna chop Inglis, it’d be Webster that comes in if it were up to me. He deserves to be there more than the two you have mentioned.

I was thinking the same thing. The fact he bowls in that necklace is ridiculous. Such a Bazball thing.

Stuff Lyon and his self-centred, entitled attitude. It’s time to blood a new leggie.

I was watching a replay of all the guys together and was wondering why Ben Duckett was with the Aussies and why was he wearing #48. He is very short.

And should seriously kill any conversation about who the better keeper is out of him and Carey.

Yeah, I think that last test cemented Alex Carey as the best wicket keeper in Australia.

Potentially the best in world cricket. It was a phenomenal performance.

Still got Kuhnemann and his lefties. He will play a fair bit for Australia in the next few years

Well to be fair they did over prepare for the last one.
