How will the umpires play this

Kettlebrough will end up losing his voice.

I feel like he could do without that stress.

I know McGrath’s unfulfilled cricket wish was to hit the winning runs in a Test.

If we win this test… It’ll be an absolute highway next test. 600 Vs 600.

Do India need to win a test or just draw one from these last two to qualify?

Is my recollection about Lyon correct, that there was a fair bit of criticism about him early on, but also well into his career that he didn’t do enough with the ball? And that he bowled it too fast?

His record is outstanding and yet he comes across as the most unGOAT of GOATS. Incredible performance today.

Didn’t need a poll for that one!

I had my doubts about him in Indian conditions, but he really has a much stronger claim on GOAT now after today. Complete performance.

A kid can but dream. Oh well, I’m assuming he had to settle doing that with the ball instead.

Anyone know how many times he took the last and winning wicket?

Yes, I believe someone does.

He should be told to focus on his footy.

I think early on there was some fair questions asked about him and his variety. But he’s gotten better with more experience and is now genuinely one of our greatest bowlers of all time.

I think if Sri Lanka beat NZ 2-0 and India or Australia lose the last 2, Sri Lanka would make it.

Although not sure how England can play 22 Tests and Sri Lanka 12 in the same competition.

Yeah just had a bit of a read and that’s correct.

The chances of Sri Lanka winning both tests in New Zealand would have to be very slim so you’d think either way it’ll be Australia vs India.

But yeah if India didn’t get a win in this test or next, a draw wouldn’t be enough for them if Sri Lanka pulled off the unthinkable.

He took 5 fer on debut and a wicket with his first ball against SL. From my memory his biggest criticism was him not bowling well in 4th Innings and not bowling us to victory like we were accustomed by Warne. And we were used to sharp turners whilst Lyon was more subtle. I think he’s copped far less criticism than Krezja, Hauritz, Beer, Casson, McGain & Doherty, all of whom we burned through until Lyon.

Was Krejza the last Aussie 8fer?

Edit. Oops think Lyon has another.

Oh good question. I don’t know the answer…

while below is not the answer to my question it’s nevertheless a fun McGrath fact
