Play each ball on its merits and get to the pitch. Just bat sensibly like Khwaja showed in the first innings.
Why would we play Test Match cricket in India when it is on pitches like this. As good as these spin blowers from both sides are the pitch is not fair to batsmen.

Give everything out so that Umpire’s Call goes in favour of India. Make Australia review. That’s how they’ve operated this Test.

Yep - our 2nd innings scores so far have been 91 and 113.
And that’s batting first without the pressure there’ll be on us tomorrow.
Will either be one of the great days for Aussie Cricket or one it’s most humiliating!

That’s why it’s hard to judge bowlers like Ashwin when you compare them to the GOATS. Ashwin will end up around 700+ wickets easily and go past Warne, but how many on these type of pitches? And I’m sure a higher proportion of wickets against minnows (Murali did too) also in comparison, infact I’m certain of it. Warne played less minnows and bowled far more often on hard, spinless wickets.
Same with Anderson and Broad. Both will end up with a high Test wicket tally. Both bowl a lot in seam friendly English wickets and rack up wickets. Although both have played around 70-80 more Tests than McGrath/Warne did for a similar bag of wickets.

They’re cheats. They’ve been turning plumb lbw shouts down that are hitting middle half way up on a pitch keeping low. It’s scandalous.

Yep, there’s been a lot of criticism about Lyon for various things. Some have seemed fixated on what he can’t do rather than what he’s done.
For an offspinner with an entirely legal action and most of his Tests on Australian pitches (without the old style SCG too) he’s been incredibly good. There are times I’ve thought he bowls a bit to quick and flat for the conditions, but with 468 Test wickets his record is just outstanding. He’s good in all conditions and all countries, whereas some offies are non events away from home. And I maintain that he’s had more missed chances off his bowling than anyone else I’ve seen, could easily be at 500 test wickets already.

but yeah, it should be very doable if they hold their nerve and not get spooked by the task. And don’t try stupid risky shots. You can be and should be “aggressive” but not reckless. Usman is important, but one of the top six can make themselves a star today.

Since 2010 India has gone from the easiest place to bat, ie higher batting average to the hardest place to bar, ie lowest batting average. I suspect having a couple of all time great spinners has been a contributing factor with them more willing to roll out Bunsen burners.

It’s absolutely getting beyond a joke. Fair enough for them to be spin friendly, but balls really keeping low in the first session on the first day is poor. This pitch needs to be rated poor.
