I can’t see India preparing another minefield after Indore. They’ll want to keep their series lead, so something a bit flatter might be in store, specifically to blunt our spinners given the minefield for the 3rd Test made them dangerous, Kuhnemann the one that surprised in the first innings and Lyon with match figures of 11/99. A drawn series would be a failure for them…
A drawn series, considering how dire things looked at one point, would be an incredible result for Australia. Considering the last test was only Australia’s second win in India since 2004 (well, at least the radio informed me).
Jyhe “Orazio” Richardson has been taken out of the Australian ODI squad after another hamstring injury in his first game back. Played club cricket on the weekend after sitting out the last 2 months and only lasted 4 overs before straining it again.
Nathan Ellis has been called into the squad as replacement
Geez. It really is getting to the point with him where you start to question if he’s ever going to become a key member of the national teams like we all expected he would. Body is cooked.
Maybe Essendon can draft him mid-season. Cooked and injury prone - then you’ll always have a home at EFC.
They still play ODI
They still play @ the ■■■■■■■ WACA
They are still playing tests at the WACA in the future. Optus will only get the big test nations, not that it matters with their woeful crowds
The WACA is an ideal venue for state cricket, as in the Shield and domestic 50-over games, and also low drawing Internationals as Ace has mentioned. Pretty sure there is, or will be, a massive redevelopment planned for that precinct. Optus is not a place I’d want to be where there are less than 5K people there. Like the G hosting Shield games, having a 100K capacity stadium and there’s less than 100 people watching. Better of paying at Junction Oval.
An empty MCG for shield cricket is the best if you are at the ground. The sound of a ball coming off the middle of the bat comes through unimpeded.
Financially and for TV looks terrible, though.
It’s pretty soulless IMO. About 15 years ago my old work had a PD day at the G, using function rooms in the MCC Members stand. Queensland were playing Victoria in a Shield game, Shane Watson hit a big hundred and yeah the sound of ball hitting his bat reverberated around like gun shot. But zero atmosphere whatsoever.
yeah sure. Bring in the marketing, Bru haha & bullshit of the BBL, 50/50 would kick it’s ■■■.
As it is Wednesday WACA 10$ adult 5$ concess, choose your patch of grass.
WACA is a shithole to watch cricket at.
Absolute Bullshit!
Shield final will be at the WACA too
Expecting the biggest crowd ever for a day of test cricket, would be absolutely awesome to be there with 110k plus on day 1
Surely that would be the record for any cricket crowd ever wouldn’t it?
Comfortably.
I think the record is a 90k+ Ashes test at the MCG whatever year Mitch Johnson decided he’d give the English batsmen the fright of their life.
Think they had over 100k for the IPL final but every chance to match or better that. Capacity is up near 130k now at the ground
Eden Gardens apparently had 140k once. Completely unverified though.
I used to manage a company that had a super box at the G. We used every opportunity for meetings, fantastic even when the shield cricket was on with fark all crowd.
Everything works when you open the bar at 10 am.
Yeah Hardie got the nod as we thought he should @redbull
From the predicted XI on the CA website it was a case of out D’Arcy Short and in Hardie.
