Inglis on fire.
What is the current pecking order for Australia in terms of our keepers in each format?
Carey is obviously the incumbent test keeper.
ODIās? It feels like itās been that long since weāve played one I canāt remember. Carey also Iām guessing.
T20ās - Wade must be done now. Iād hope Inglis is told that the position is his.
Inglis would be 2nd cab of off the rank for both white ball and test cricket.
Peirson has had a great season, and would be in the conversation.
Even in T20?
My recollection was that in the last couple of years he had been preferred to Carey in that format. I think he kept when Wade was unavailable a few times and obviously played as a batter a bit.
Inglis has been first choice in T20 in the past 12 months IIRC, but I donāt know if thatās truly settled yet.
Heās currently 127* from 102 balls in the Ranger Cup final.
Just make inglis the keeper in all forms
but yeah, my memory says heās been the go to in white ball lately
Carey is the best keeper in the country.
No heās not. Pierson is probably the best gloveman going around with Inglis not far behind and several others are equal to Carey in that discipline. His only holding his place on the strength of his batting, but an average of 32 wonāt be enough to hold his position in the side much longer.
I believe we have dropped him 3 times already
WA seriously going to town on these SA bowlers. looking like a 1 sided affair
Jimmy Peirsonās 30 - theyād better call him up soon. Never mind Josh Inglis - Englandāll give him a call.
WA finish with 7/387
Inglis 138 (110), Bancroft 90, Mitch Marsh 56 (5 sixes, 30 balls).
Carey isnāt a great keeper. Heās in the team because heās satisfactory behind the stumps and can bat well.
His keeping in the last couple of tests has been outstanding.
Two tests does not make ones career.
Keeping in India and making hardly a mistake on spinning wickets does make a career though.
I saw the highlights ā¦.wow
He isnāt a great bat ā¦.too inconsistent and his shot selection (sweeps ; reverse sweeps) is poor. Over rated IMO ā¦ā¦give me Inglis any day
Heās a bit better than satisfactory. I think heās improved a lot since his first few test matches. His legs look stronger, his movement is better, and he anticipates really well.
So you want to trade up for a bloke who averages 32.9 in first class cricket over the inconsistent overrated (in your view) incumbent keeper who averages exactly the same?
Not a huge amount of logic in that argument given Careyās average is from 26 additional innings which therefore implies more consistency.
