Or pick real bowlers
Lab gets the nod.
In the VIC/NSW ODD Vics were cruising along and looking like getting to 300. Handscomb comes in and immediately applied the breaks and his partners are left trying to get the RR back up and so start getting out. He is currently 16 from 29. Hopeless. Vics might get to 270.
Finally Handscomb finally realises he actually has to score runs and goes for some big hitsā¦but then gets out.
Kellaway and Elliott save the innings and get us close to the 300
Vics end on 7/298
Australiaās ODI World Cup warm up match against the Netherlands (in Thiruvananthapuram) currently delayed by rain⦠which is expected to stick around all day. So probably a washout.
Our second warm up game against Pakistan is on Tuesday in Hyderabad. Another city, like Thiruvananthapuram, in the southern area of India which is impacted by the monsoon season this time of year. So more rain on the cards.
Great scheduling again by the ICC and India.
I like how you portray the two as separate entities.
Fair call. I thought the same thing when typing it.
Great hat-trick by Mitchell Starc, lbw, bowled, bowled. The two bowled were absolutely perfect deliveries, both swinging and taking middle stump. Might only be against the Dutch, but I reckon there are plenty of other batsmen in the world wouldnāt have got their bats near those two balls either.
Ozzies being put on the rack by the WI. Haley Matthews in particular has batted with savage grace and purpose, smashing some inane bowling. She has also been dropped a couple of times, which hasnāt helped the Aus cause. Then Taylor is bowled.
Matthews goes bang, hits 4 x 4, then gets bowled. Gawn for 132 off 64 balls. Superb batting from beginning to end.
Hell of an innings that one.
Windies win off the back of Matthews stunning innings and some poor bowling.
Expect (through their proven ability over time) much better from Jonassen and Gardner at the death. 20 odd to play with, you back them 9 times out of 10 to get the job done.
Nevertheless great win by the West Indies.
The damage was done much earlier. Windies had plenty of wickets in hand.
It was! I also notice that Phoebe Litchfield equalled the T20I record with her 50 off 18 balls. Some great batting on display at North Sydney by the looks.
Maxwell getting some decent time in the middle in the last warm up game. 66* off 62.
Heās stroking them well. Hoping that Green can join the party.
Maxwell warming up for the world cup, Green for the test summer.
Green seems low on confidence with both bat and ball. Not sure him coming in at 7 is going to provide any value in the World Cup.
While it wasnāt a super-convincing innings, 50 from 40 from Green is still decent, and so is guiding us to 350.
Weāre going to need all of our players to step up at various times this tournament.
Looking forward to see how our bowling goes.
Green scored 16 from his first 26 balls faced and 34 from his last 14 faced. Hopefully itās the perfect confidence booster of an innings.
