News coverage tonight showed Bairstow, while keeping, trying the same thing a couple of days ago during the Australian innings. Khawaja batting I think.
I doubt that had Bairstow been good enough to hit the wickets, and Khawaja had actually out of his ground, that Bairstow would have said, “Nah, don’t worry about it fellas, not in the spirit of the game to give him out.”
At this point I’m not sure if it’d be more embarrassing if players broke ranks with “bazball”, or continued to toe the line.
They can’t all be fully behind it still.
They’re not that dumb. (Except maybe Robinson).
One more win to us and I reckon they implode likeMickey Arthur’s Aus side in India or Kim Hughes in 1983.
Reckon they’re right on the verge of doing exactly that. They have precisely two test quality bats (Root, Stokes… Duckett’s done far better than I expected, so might yet be, Bairstow can be but very irregularly) and one test quality bowler (Broad… the current Anderson isn’t, the current Stokes isn’t). The rest are varying degrees of garbage, and their game plan sucks balls against decent opposition. That Pope is their vice-captain is frankly laughable. They’ll be found out and opened up sooner or later.
They’re going to fold like a deck of cards in one (possibly more) of these 3 last Test matches. I’m talking going Spazball and all out for 100-120 odd and series over.
