The Cricket Thread (part 6) - from July 2023 (Bartholemew Frinton-Smythe, Humphrey Wigbert-Porter, and Quinten Breckenridge)

That’s just good, smart keeping.
He knows when the ball’s dead - and not dead - and waits for the mistake.

I can’t believe anyone has an issue with it
The only difference is Carey did it from 15 metres away.

“Spirit of the game” is pure, unadulterated sooking.

I do believe that if the delivery went through Carey’s gloves, Bairstow would have claimed the byes.

In fact, if the shot at the stumps missed and went for 4, the poms would have claimed it.

I really hope now one test is washed out, just to ask about the theory of being in the perfect position of being two down in the series.

‘Didn’t you think about what would happen if it rained?’ Morons.

Bairstow has an issue with it… when it’s him.

Seriously, how can a keeper be this dumb as a batsman?

I’ve never heard of Bryce McGain.

He’s a Vic…

Bryce McGain was a gun first class cricketer.

He was, famously old too.

I think he is right on this.

He finished with a worse career economy rate in Test cricket than T20 cricket.

News coverage tonight showed Bairstow, while keeping, trying the same thing a couple of days ago during the Australian innings. Khawaja batting I think.

I doubt that had Bairstow been good enough to hit the wickets, and Khawaja had actually out of his ground, that Bairstow would have said, “Nah, don’t worry about it fellas, not in the spirit of the game to give him out.”

At this point I’m not sure if it’d be more embarrassing if players broke ranks with “bazball”, or continued to toe the line.
They can’t all be fully behind it still.
They’re not that dumb. (Except maybe Robinson).

One more win to us and I reckon they implode likeMickey Arthur’s Aus side in India or Kim Hughes in 1983.

Let’s be fair, the win is so much better for the fact the Poms are carrying on like this.

They’re all about the entertainment. And this is how they’re providing it.

I’m extremely entertained.

Reckon they’re right on the verge of doing exactly that. They have precisely two test quality bats (Root, Stokes… Duckett’s done far better than I expected, so might yet be, Bairstow can be but very irregularly) and one test quality bowler (Broad… the current Anderson isn’t, the current Stokes isn’t). The rest are varying degrees of garbage, and their game plan sucks balls against decent opposition. That Pope is their vice-captain is frankly laughable. They’ll be found out and opened up sooner or later.

They’re going to fold like a deck of cards in one (possibly more) of these 3 last Test matches. I’m talking going Spazball and all out for 100-120 odd and series over.

Hope it is Leeds.

Hope Warner and Uzzy ton up in the first innings at Leeds and put on 200+ together.
