The Cricket Thread (part 6) - from July 2023 (Bartholemew Frinton-Smythe, Humphrey Wigbert-Porter, and Quinten Breckenridge)

Made his test debut and retirement at age 37. He was an IT professional who played part-time for VIC and somehow got a call up late in life

TBF, there is a version that Usman gave them some lip after the cheat chants and then they gave it back to him. Not necessarily singling him out for his skin colour.

Came along at probably the worst time in any state’s history to try and break in as a Shield leg spinner!

Does Duckett go back to work with Snow White and his six mates for three days, or rest up?

US counterparts reached out because they have their 4th July celebration tomorrow and not sure whether to separate us from the brits at the event. All very confusing for them but I told them I am very much looking forward to seeing my brit friends tomorrow.

While I agree in principle… yet despite all that, many of our batsmen get out for not much, and they seem pretty hard for our bowlers to dismiss for blokes thatshould be scuttled.

May get your wish. Rain forecast for Sat-Mon this week, in Leeds. So far highest predictions are for Saturday and Monday.

I had heard that whilst not racial it was a religious based sledge/banter

I know Warner cops a lot on here but I liked the fact he gave it back to those hypocritical snobs.

The alleged question whether he’d like some bacon with the eggs, flashing the MCC tie.?

As fun and as satisying as it’s been breaking the Poms hearts these last two tests and witness their mental gymnastics trying to spin it into a net positive, I hope we utterly disintegrate them at Leeds by an innings and watch bazball implode before our eyes.

With a few extras thrown in i believe of which I don’t know. Players are being very tight lipped as it’s being investigated by the MCC.
The players returned to the scene of the crime later and many of the members apologised for the behaviour of others and had even dobbed in the perpetrators. My understanding was that it was just a couple of tossers and that the majority were very congratulatory of the Australian teams and equally disgusted at the behaviour of those bad eggs

I dunno, another 20-30 run win might even be better.

Don’t care so much about the margin, but l am enjoying these tests that go the full 5 days.
I am also greatly enjoying the reactions of the Poms, including a couple of friends who have contacted me, l have gone easy on them, hardly any gloating.

True. I’m just thinking selfishly. I’ve been sleeping less than Smith during these two tests and it would be nice to go to bed with Australia 0-500 after dismissing England for 70.

Absolutely!

A tense contest is what good test cricket is all about.

I understand there are plenty of parochial Aussie fans here, but surely these tight results are more satisfying than the floggings that some are hoping for.

TEST MATCH CRICKET.

(even if it is a weird bastardised-pitch version thereof)

If we win the next test, l expect there will be a big flogging in one of the last 2 tests. They will turn up their toes if those tests become dead rubbers.

On the whole I agree. I’m not even fussed if Australia lose a series as long as its tight and competitive. But when it comes to England, comprehensive 5-0 thrashings only please. They’re Collingwood to me.
