Yeah I know right. Ive been getting way ahead of myself recently, thinking way ahead to 2028 Olympics…if Perry was retired, who would be able to fill that void as genuine batting all rounder. Maybe the answer is already in the team.
I thought Tahlia McGrath (and she’ll definitely still be in the team at that point), but Sutherland is only 23.
It’s the Healy and Mooney replacements which are a little bit of concern. Still very reliant on them in the top order, although I suspect the natural development of Litchfield will help cover that.

She also broke some WBBL records for fastest 50 off 16 balls, and got good numbers in the WNCL this season.

For some reason Flintoff had slipped my mind, but yes, she’ll definitely be around the mark.
Yeah the other thing is,
Mooney just turned 30 in Jan, and she’s flying still, I can defs see her in the team for the next 4 years.
Healy and Perry tho are both 33 going on 34.
I honestly thought Mooney was the same age as Healy and Perry - I’d assumed she came through the same crop as them (but from QLD not NSW).
That’s great then.
Yeah, that’s how good she is, we just assume she the same age because she’s the same class.
Lanning being only 31, in her prime when she retired made selectors turning to youth abit quicker than anticipated. But just like that Litchfield falls from the sky.
Just need to uncover another gem and we should be set for another 2-4 years.
Healy also being wicket keeper makes that task slightly more tricky, but she might have plenty of cricket left in her. Keeping tabs on Maddy Darke incase

The final thing is
If say Healy or Perry retired suddenly 12-24 months,you have a plethora of older WNCL options that could plug in and play for a few years - if those younger options needed a few more years to develop

Katie Mack - opener ACT
Nicola Carey - 30 opener/all rounder TAS (although she batter down the order for AUS, she opens for TAS with most run for the WNCL this season, could easy slot in at 4. Turned down another Aus cricket contact so she could play more cricket and avoid being in AUS A)
