The Root one was one of the weirdest ones I have seen. He got completely thrown by the delivery before it, then just played a terrible shot( still not sure what he was trying to do)
But I will take 400 in a day every single time

WI have got to 400 but are 9 down. Da Silva 58*, one of those cat and mouse 10th wicket stands where he is farming the strike and making sure Joseph faced as little of Mark Wood as is possible. He’s no mug with the bat, just smoked a hook off Atkinson to the fence. 9/409 trailing by 7.

Amazing shot, goes short again and 4 the next ball. It beggars belief when bowlers did it in short to the tail, forget about bowling at the stumps and they get pasted to all parts.
Stokes finally brings the field up and da Silva goes 4, 4, 4, 6. The last one was a ripping strike. Hahaha.

I’ve been following the scores, shaping up as a decent contest.
But how’s this for a Test debut for Zimbabwe keeper Clive Madande. Out for a first ball duck with a mindless attempted slog and then in Ireland’s first innings he dropped a catch early in the day and let through 42 byes - the highest number of byes ever recorded in a Test innings. The poor guy.

They had us in the ropes, but root,smith and woakes played really good knocks.Smith looks a really good batter. Seems to play the situation very well.
