Yeah good luck playing a 140km/hr off break.
What the fark was he trying to do even if it hadnât cut a mile? Iâd have some sympathy if he was in behind it, trying to defend. But the overriding impression is of a bloke who has given up and using Bazball mantra as an abrogation of batting responsibility.
Cracking delivery though.
Bit harsh Sal. They were 9 down and he had batted quite responsibly up until near the end when he went hard for as many runs as possible as the bowlers fell around him.
BazballâŚâŚ
Brainless cricket
Surely the number one thing as a batsmen no matter what is to get in behind it and not get bowled even if youâre 9 down.
Nice to see that the WI are unearthing some talent, until said talent goes off to all the T20 leagues for the big pay cheques.
That shot selection was poor, no doubt, but at 9 down it is hardly a hanging offense or even symptomatic of Bazball.
Just donât throw your arms out as if the pitch is unplayable when youâve premeditated that you want to slog it to midwicket and canât.
And then India roll along to 1/120.
Donât get me wrong, I want India to cheese them.
(Like cream them but it goes for longer).
But him backing away to free his arms for a delivery that Should have come to the batsman outside legâŚ
I canât fault him on that.
For India v England for WTC purposes, I wouldnât mind a 2-2-1 result with a number of slow over rate penalties for both sides.
Happy to get there on (biased and Iâm not even saying which way) merit.
Gives a whole new meaning to a Cheese Pie
So how long until the Indian cricket board force the WTC to be played in India
Iâd be okay with it circulating.
England is the home of cricket but they donât own it.
West Indies, Sri LankaâŚwherever.
But both of us can wait.
Happy for the WTC to remain at Lords permanently as a showcase event.
I donât mind Lords permanently hosting as that guarantees a neutral venue for the final.
Hartley looks utterly pox, Rehan at least looks like he has somthing to work with.
Loooove the implication that England will never be top two.
I would rather a 3 test series to decide the WTC. One in each teamâs conditions and also one game at Lordâs. Perhaps have Lordâs as the first test and then 2nd test in the country of the team that finished first on the table.
Therefore, it rewards the team that finished first over the course of the two year cycle. And the 2nd placed side really does need to win the Lordâs test, knowing theyâll be travelling to foreign conditions for Test 2.
For scheduling reasons this would probably never happen but it seems a fairer way of deciding the overall champ.
Pakistan got exactly that in their warm up game before the first Test.
