Always the worst thing about this thread. So sorry to hear @blinkers. Cherish all those wonderful memories. And when you are ready, I can’t recommend a rescue dog enough.

Sixteen years is a good long life for a dog. (Labradors, for example, live on average to 11 or 12.) I know that Libby’s 16 years with you were happy ones; but I also know that the longer they are with you the more you miss them when they go. You have my sincere condolences, @blinkers.

It is heart breaking to realise that a dog dying at age 16 never lived at any time when Essendon won a final.

Thankyou everyone for your very kind thoughts. I know I’m not the only one here grieving for the loss of a beloved animal lately so I’m grateful for the support.

She pass of old age?
Pretty much. She had become very ill over the last week and her organs began to shut down. Our Vet was very supportive and suggested we had to make the call to let our girl pass with dignity😭

Gorgeous. We passed one tonight on our walk, he was an elderly gentleman but super friendly.
