The Dog Thread

Just had a weekend away. Called into the local pub, as you do, and a local had a large Mastiff type dog that was being loved by practically everyone. Very friendly dog wearing a “Therapy Dog” jacket/harness. Turned out it’s a bluff and he wears it because its the only way he’s allowed in the pub. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Australian Jazz Convention in Mildura. Hot hole. To hot for the old labradors.

Hi all, update.

Jett has been diagnosed with Laryngial Paralysis, thank you @Koala for alerting me to this behind the scenes. There is a surgical procedure to help with this however the vet did not recommend as he barely survived being sedated for the scope procedure. He’s on some meds which are helping but this condition is non curable, it’s just a matter of keeping him cool and calm as heat and getting excited makes causes breathing difficulties which intern causes anxiety which exacerbates the problem. Condition is seen mainly in labs and Goldie’s but also affects g-sheps, st berns, greyhounds and a few others. He is comfortable but vet say must watch closely.

He has a doggie door on the sliding door so he can come inside to air conditioning or anytime but only uses it when we say it’s ok, such a good boy. Any ideas on how to train to come inside whenever he wants.

TIA

Sorry for long post.

No need to be sorry J. You might already know but Bunnings sell a cooling base blanket for dogs in hot weather. Don’t know how they work but they’ll tell you online.

Cheers, will check it out, he really needs to learn he doesn’t need permission to come inside.

I had a squiz on a Bunnings mat after I posted, there’s several on the market. I’d never heard of them before.

Just to let you know I painted the street march banner for the 15th Melbourne Australian Jazz convention. Attended a few with fellow band mates. Good to know a fellow bomber jazzo.
Had some drop in on way back this year. Too hot for doggies. Meant to add. After finishing painting said banner, it was still wet and my little pug cross doggie walked over it. And her paw prints were displayed proudly allover for posterity.

My beautiful boy Jett crossed the rainbow bridge earlier today, I am absolutely grief stricken, no one will ever understand just how much he has helped me through the last year and half. I will forever cherish the 12 and a bit years of joy he gave me. He went peacefully at home with the warm sunshine rays shining on him. You’ve taken a piece of my soul with you mate, gone but never ever forgotten.

Love ya Jett, run free.

My heartfelt sympathies, Jetster. He was a goodlooking dog - looks like a brother of my girls, who are both over 12 which is old for labradors.

Take care.

Jett left you with his legacy. A love that you will always have. That’s what these beautiful creatures do . So wonderful. Remember, as hard as it is, he left you with that. He was amazing.

Take care Jetster.

Sorry for your loss. It’s the innocence of their beautiful face and eyes, that we lose and can’t never forget that hurts you the most.
I’m convinced they know when it’s their time to leave

Hey all, thank you for the kind words and especially this Jaydon, to say I’m doing it tough would be putting it mildly, but this is truly beautiful, I tear up when I read it but it helps. Thanks again.

Dogs don’t live long enough whilst children live too long.
