Jasper, our rescued labradoodle, barks at any animals on the box even cartoons. And he always looks straight at me afterwards . Doesn’t make a peep when he meets other dogs on his walks. He’s a funny little farker, sings to Sultans of Swing but no other songs. I’ll try and film him.

We’re not sure if he’s singing along or if it’s a frightened howl. He was one of the 250+ dogs rescued from the puppy farm that got closed down, down here in Tassie. Took the best part of a year for him to trust me but took to my better half straight away when we fostered. There were some horrible stories that came out when they closed it down.

Yeas I remember when you first fostered him. I cannot understand how anyone can mistreat animals especially dogs. I’m glad to hear your boy has settled in well.

One of my girls, Rosie, has always watched TV and reacted strongly to it. The other one, Duchesse, just ignores it. There’s no scent off a TV film, so they have to go by sight and sound. It’s probably no coincidence that Rosie has excellent long vision, while Duchesse is short-sighted.
Show a bit of sympathy for Rocky and Coco, please. Stop watching Channel 7 with their crap ads. Try the ABC: they’ve got some good dog programs - Rocky & Coco will appreciate your kindness in letting them watch their own programs from time to time.

One of the houses I walk past regularly has a dog that always barks at passersby.
I was having a chat with its owner today and he reckons the bloody thing would bark if a sparrow farted in the Amazon rainforest.

It has been hard for all of us. He was such a presence in our house. I’m still finding myself looking out for him at certain times and when I’m doing certain things.

My daughter and I volunteered at a doggie rescue shelter today. We miss our dog but aren’t ready for another one and this felt like a good way to show some love and help out a worthy cause. We got to take out Autumn and Kiva for a walk. Autumn is a husky who was rescued from a hoarding situation with about 40 huskies on the one property. She was a lovely girl who was initially a bit stubborn but eventually warmed up and we had a lovely walk. Kiva is a catahoula X kelpie and was very affectionate, especially with my daughter. Such a sweet girl! She’s been there about two months, but I doubt she’ll be there much longer, she’s the perfect family dog. We will be trying to get back there as often as we can. Such a fun and rewarding day with some doggos.

A different sort of dog rescue story I thought might bring a smile to some. Tokyo the lovely black lab found a different sort of treat up Ben Nevis the other day. Must admit the pic of her on the rescuers stretcher had me laughing .. I know that look
