The Dog Thread

All the best to Maddox.

One of our dogs got mauled by an unrestrained Rottweiler owned by the housos at the end of our street. I had to kick the living sh it out of that dog to get it off. Would’ve broken its ribs for sure.
The turds came out when they heard the ruckus and were unleashed upon so savagely by me I would’ve been embarrassed if I wasn’t so fkn angry. If they hadn’t slunk away in fear, there was a chance bodily harm would’ve been committed.

Our poor girl recovered with time and antibiotics, but was very wary around other dogs after that (as was I).

The other dog? There was never any sight or sound of it again. Either its injuries ended very badly for it, or it ended up at the pound.

If ever there was a case of an animal being a reflection of its owners, this was it. Fkn ■■■■■…

All the best to Maddox mate, this has happened to me and my boy Jett on numerous occasions recently and really ■■■■■■ me off, never lead to anuthing major other than me probably giving my dog a little pain from trying to restrain him because he got so spooked, anyway as I said all the best.

I hope you send them the vet bill. The absolute least they can do …

Hope he’s feeling better today. A truly horrible experience for you both.

He’s very tender. A little brighter though which is nice.

Sorry to hear that @Tezzalenco, thinking of you and Rocky and sending positive vibes.

Our old girl had her first mast cell tumour diagnosed when she was 5 (Grade 2). She had the initial lump removed and diagnosed and then went back in again to have a bigger operation to ensure clean margins (which we got). She had multiple lumps after that, which we would always stress about, however only one further mast cell which we got early. She also had a melanoma diagnosis later in life (again picked up early). She ended up living to the ripe old age of 15 although she did start to loose her mental facilities in her older age (the vet tended to think that this may have been due to her cancer and potential brain cancer).

We didn’t do a lot different after the initial diagnosis. Obviously were very careful with any future lumps and straight to the vets. Most were checked with fine needle aspirate but a couple were cut out straight away. Cost us a pretty penny but they are worth it. Probably the main thing we did was switch her diet to natural food (kangaroo mince, rice and vegetables). My wife used to cook up a big pot every second week and would freeze. We would add turmeric in (my research suggested turmeric was good mast cell inhibitor). Don’t know if it worked or not but as I said she made it to 15 so might be worth a try.

So is the Bulldog getting put down over this, or do they only do that when it’s people that are attacked?

I know they have gotten really serious about this after any Dog attacks.

We haven’t reported the dog. 500 dollar vet bill heading to the owner. Maddox looking much better tonight. I can start to relax

Hope the owners had the decency to be suitably contrite and apologetic (unlike the trailer-park trash up the street from me…)

Such a relief when your dog starts to go back to normal

4 week update on Hurley and all going well, I am letting him walk around the house of an evening with the back yard still sanctioned off, a bonus of this is I have been able to grow some grass from where he has worn it down. Will be keeping this happening to alleviate side fence aggravation from dogs walking past the house until further landscaping is done. He will have to be happy with his large deck and morning and evening walks, I have kept his weight down this time as well.

He is walking well and have increased the morning and evening walks to longer and including hydrotherapy once a week and showing no discomfort, if anything he favours the recently injured leg over the other. He sneakingly jumped up onto the couch last night ( he is a big Collie and the couch is quite low), more like a step.

So all good

Thanks for all the info and kind words @PHBomber really appreciate it. Sounds like your girl went through quiet a bit but to make to 15 is a great effort. Hats off to you. We are still nervously waiting for the diagnosis and trying to keep positive. The vet also did warn us that when they get a mast cell tumour that there is a chance that they can get more of them later on. Will definitely be keeping an eye out for them in the future. I will keep the tumeric in mind as well and try to incorporate it into his diet. Rocky’s wound seems to be healing well but he has developed a lump which feels a bit like fluid which has got bigger over the last 24hrs. We emailed a couple of pics to the vet today and we need to take him in tomorrow morning just to get it checked and make sure it’s OK. No matter what happens will just do everything we can and give him all the love we can.

@Tezzalenco Fingers crossed that all goes well with Rocky’s pathology results. Glad to hear the wound is healing well. Hopefully the new lump is just fatty tissue or something equally harmless.
Keep us posted - we are thinking of you.

Cheers @loyalandproud we are sure it is just a build up of fluid but we will take Rocky back for a look just to be sure. We really appreciate the kind words.:+1::+1:

We have same issues with lump after surgery, which fluid. Course of anti-histamines cleared it up.
