A couple of years ago - okay, maybe ten or fifteen years ago - my dad bought a really nice grey wool Zegna suit at an op shop near Aberfeldie. He paid 37 dollars for it, which was a reasonably steep price back then for an op shop suit, even for a nice one like that. Anyway, he had worn the suit a couple of times when one night he put his hand in one of the breast pockets and noticed something crinkle. He pulled out some papers - old betting slips - and $37 in old paper money: three tens, a five and a two. Guess it was meant to be.
Over the years I’ve borrowed the suit a few times, and it’s a nice suit, but with the collar starting to wear a little thin nothing to gloat over of course.

Makes you wonder whether the betting slips were winners. Fate has a funny way of working sometimes.

My wardrobes pretty much fully “vintage” these days. Only a tailored jacket and maybe a couple of shirts are bought new, and the odd gift but otherwise I don’t see the point.
I’m pretty much totally retrofitted and nothings over $7.
Which really annoys some people in the household.
