Australia prides itself on being an egalitarian society, but it can be highly parochial and territorial. The rivalry between Sydney and Melbourne is legendary; neither would ever consider the Gold Coast as worthy of debate.
People from Singapore get the Gold Coast, as do people people from Hong Kong and Dubai – they are all cities that share a new frontier urban aesthetic.

Oh mate I can feel that blanket hit me in the face to this day. I flew up in the middle of July, stepped through the plane door and SLAM! The Gold Coast says hello!
It was an eye opener, I wasn’t in Kansas anymore.

It’s absolutely changed for the better. IMO it’s the best shopping centre in Australia. The indoor/outdoor layout is great.

Ironically, late Jan and through Feb is probably the time you can absolutely bank on Melbourne having great weather if you like it warm, sunny and not much rain about.
You’re not getting bang for your buck heading up there then haha. Just as likely to ■■■■ down on the Goldy then too
