Hey, that is a great branding idea. Tom Tate will move the Gold Coast 15km to the West, up on the escarpment and rebrand the sunken Surfers Paradise New Surflantis. They will hire Jason Mamoa to run diving tours.
@Loflyer is the number 3 contributor in this thread ….maybe he is a GC resident and deep down he lovveeeeees the GC ……probably sitting back in thongs and board shorts typing away on his 21st floor apartment overlooking the Nerang River
Not my fault if people are so thirsty for my wisdom about the place. I like the audacity of the thread, and I’m interested in places that present such a contrast of experience between childhood and adulthood. Some places survive the transition and stay magical, others you see for what they are.
I think your earnest pal dmaplesyrup is who you’re thinking of stuck up in his generic timeshare apartment😉
Wear your mackintosh if you’re going to the not-so-glorious Gold Coast. It pishes rain there. 18.2mm on 16 December; 13.6mm on 17 December; 17.0mm on Christmas Eve; 38.6mm on Christmas Day; 33.2mm on Boxing Day; with a total of 143.4mm for December 2023.
Often the high totals are result of storms. Eg, Christmas Day / New Year totals. Typically the days are largely sunny until mid afternoon when storms then roll in around 4-5pm and in the evening / over night.
Christmas Day was sunny until about 5pm before that historic storm. I was on the beach with this photo at 3:50pm. It can change very quickly.
“Oh, look! A pretend fight!” *Munches popcorn
Typical Victorian tourists. Also, not the first rabid pack of boozing bendigo bogan teens brawling after a night out contributing to the Glorious Gold Coast economy.
