Best wishes @dmaplestone and all other Blitzers caught up in the cyclone. Hope it passes quickly with minimum damage and impact. It looks like it could be really hectic and dangerous

Virgin and Qantas pulling all flights after 4pm today to/from Brisbane.
All freight staff going home at 1pm, no incoming freight for 2 days at this stage

Yes. Basically people aren’t working today. A day for preparations and waiting.

That camera is basically within 100m to where I am!

A few days ago, cruise ship docking in Brisbane was postponed till Friday. My neighbours on one of the cruise ships might need to rebook their flights home yet again.

That’s starting to look gnarly.

Alfred has done a little dance but now resumed his westward course - still some indecision about exact path he’ll take, but the worst of the weather will be south of it it seems.

Plenty of rain forecast for the Sunny coast on Sat - BOM pic is prediction for Sat evening here.

We back on to bush and have some very tall trees 10m from the house which I am hoping will remain that distance over the coming days.
We’re all really just waiting now as the timing has been pushed further away again.
Hoping all Blitzers remain safe and special thoughts to those who were so badly flooded in 2022.

Sure is.

I don’t think the wind is going to be the issue, TBH.
It’s going to be all about the rainfall, there is going to be so much of it.

Our house in Currumbin is under threat. I’m pretty much assuming it’s gone after seeing this video.

Where in Currumbin? That is Elephant rock, absolute Pacific ocean beachfront. The carpark is virtually on the beach.

Most of Currumbin is high ground. If the property is located away from the creek or Currumbin waters you should be ok.

May be dicey along there with the storm surge. The next 24hrs will tell.

How much comes through there from the hinterland runoff?

A lot. If we get 300-400mm in 24 hrs it isn’t going to be pretty…

Hard to see anything less.
