The Inevitable Rebuild

Has that purpose not already been served? Caldwell and Durham seem to understand the level of effort required. And probably Duursma. Pretty much everyone else should be expendable for upgrades via FA or picks in the draft.

Therein lies the rub. They have people at the club who have been involved in a winning finals in the last decade. We do not. It’s not apples for apples. We need to import our entire culture from somewhere else in order to move forward.

The point stands however that if he hadn’t been traded it might have cost them a premiership or two.

And assuming we are exactly where we are today when Tassie comes in (because why wouldn’t we…), then maybe we can cash in by flogging off half of our list?

Tassie aren’t going to be buying what we’re selling.

you could probably trace there current list build all the back to 2016 though

Freo did…

Yes. And we also used to win flags.

Would keep setterfield and put laverde in his place.
Good plan.
Move ahead with it.!

That’s NOT what he’s saying. Hird is old news. What Worzel is saying is that he had to dump 70% of the playing list, and invest in new medical, fitness and coaching people in order to win the 1984-85 premierships; the implication is that he believes we’ll need a similar approach again, now.

Great listen, pity the club have have done the exact opposite. Kept the underperforming players, kept the recruiting staff & kept the medical staff. FFS learnt nothing from 40+ years ago. Is that just all talk from Sheeds or does he really not have any real power or influence on the board?

Worzel is 76 years of age. He’s retired - the board position is just a part-time amusement. He doesn’t run anything at Essendon; all he does is offer his opinion from time to time, and that is ignored as often as it’s heeded.

Except a protection racket for his chief boot licker

Come on, Aceman - you’re better than that.

I understand that. Embrace change and progress. My point stands.

Your point is wrong. Worzel used to want to see Hird as coach, but he’s given up on that long ago - since before BDB was appointed.
