The mega gnashing of teeth, save the players etc

I don’t think we can attract a better coach next year. Give Hird a chance in 2016. Save 750k.if you then replace Hird, the new coach at least knows what he’s getting into.

That was really hard to listen too

Perhaps he should get a hardball and we might be ok.

Perhaps you should stop being a ■■■■

No one debt of gratitude for any one person did on the field or off is credit enough for what is owed to the players, not even close, that’s what I’m saying, and it’s going to take a special , selfless group of people to put this right.

Slow clap for you Benfti. Well said.

that was funny. I listened to it and didn’t hear any relevance to anyone’s agenda to get rid of Hird. Can’t even see a logical tie in at all. Different ears I guess.

Because they all think the players are cheats

I wasn't listening to it to look for any agenda fuel, I just heard an innocent man broken through no fault of his own and it is an atrocity
I have awoken this morning with two very clear feelings about the club moving forward

Our list has the bones of a premiership contender. People go on about our spine, but these last few weeks have shown me that its our bottom end of the 22 where our biggest advancements will come. Zerrett, Laverde, Edwards, Langford and Daniher are all 21 or under and have the ability to legitimately become stars of the comp. All of them have shown at time in the last 8 weeks that they have tools that can win games of football. They are all exciting, and all have that class that has been so rare to the red and black the last few years.

I am really starting to become certain, we cant move forward with Hird as coach. It pains me to say, because if there is any man on earth who could pull this off against the odds, it James Hird. But here is the thing, this is a pro sports team, a business, with a million stake holders. You cant make a decision with the intent to move your business forward based on someone defying the odds from this far back. Even if that man is James Hird. We will never know if James Hird can be a premiership coach, sure, but we cant afford to make a decision on what moves a list of 44 forward over one man.

Is it just A pro sports team? Or is it Essendon. Because if it’s just A pro sports team, I don’t really give a ■■■■ what happens to it.

That’s the problem FS, to many choices and non choices being made because this IS Essendon and not what’s for the best

I've got more of a problem with the whole raping of Essendon by the AFL for political reasons. But if you think making choices in the spirit of "Essendon means something" is the problem. Each to their own. Must be nice to have the media on your side for a change.
When Hirdy started, he was able to hand pick his support team and we seemed to be developing a very competitive game style. Since his suspension, Bomber, Goodwin and Wellman have all left the club and other than Egan, our coaches’ box looks completely different. If the club backs James in, they need to give him some power back and allow him to make some changes i.e. get his own people in.

Based on our dysfunctional forward line this season, Bassett needs to go. Personally, I think Neil Craig is a joke and needs to GTFO. I have no idea why he has a match day role. Skippy might be a nice bloke and Harvs is a legend, but we need a proper midfield coach and neither of them is the answer. Right now, it’s pretty obvious the players are cooked, but it looks like there’s a massive disconnect within the coaches’ box as well and some personnel changes are required to fix it. In my opinion, a new coach with the same hacky support crew will fare no better than Hirdy.

You are some sort of ■■■■ bag. You’ve basically said that everyone who isn’t Hurd is responsible for our onfield performance. Which is basically the same as saying that everyone except for Hirf was responsible for our supplements program. Choose one or the other

And you’re a stupid ■■■■ who can’t read. I said if they back Hird in, he needs his own support team you fucken retard.

If Hird goes into 2016 as senior coach he will be a lame duck. If he loses a few early he will be gone, if he wins a few early then the noise will die down but he's never going to be trusted to take this list to a premiership after the disgraceful performances of the last 10 weeks.

We need someone new, preferably either a new coach from a progressive program (eg Dew) or an older coach with a history of success (eg Lyon, Longmire, Worsfold). I’d even look at Ratten and McCartney as guys who deserve a second chance as senior coaches.

Hird is not a premiership coach who has had a bad luck year, his only coaching experience is with his son’s U14s. The AFL is not the place to learn how to turn an underperforming team around.

Re-read what you have written Andrew.

It is not a matter if Hird can coach, he has proved he can with a 13-3 in 2013, and then stripped from finals.

The real matter is, no-one could take this list to a flag, as it is not good enough. No disrespect to these boys but they would not get a game at a top four club, currently including the Doggies !

So while you lump all this on Hird, think hard about what it takes to win a flag and let me know if this list could win one under any coach.

Interesting that you mentioned the doggies who have gone from a bottom four club to a top six club because of … Ta da!!! A new coach.

Great draft picks! Ta da!!!
(To be fair, although the coach ruffled feathers he did lay down a good platform).

And Macartney who did all the ground work.

And the swear filter might be a little broken.

Atrocity??

Get a grip.

I don’t think Zaka said that.

We let that cat amongst those pigeons FS, and we either kill the pigeons or remove the cat.

We need to make a decision as to which course to take, and stick to it.

No we didn't we were chosen because we were politically expedient. There was a court case. There's plenty of evidence what we were doing was industry standard. You can ignore all of that if it suits your agenda to turn sacrificing Hird into a necessary penance for our sins because you yourself have decided you want him gone at any cost.

I don’t think Zaka said that.

That’s how you are reading it. That’s not what I’m saying, the best decision next year could be to get John Worsfold as senior assistant to Hird for all I know, whatever asking for is that every decision here in is made with the welfare of the players first priority and any bias loyalties to any coach or administrator come second.
Atrocity??

Get a grip.

What, you don’t think a group of young men being pin cushioned with substances unknown and then have the very eithic of their character questioned and ridiculed for the ensuring 3 years to the point that their mental well being has been destroyed for no reason other than the egos and agendas of self serving sycophants isn’t atrocious then you sir are without.

Oh okay so rehashing the suffering of Zaka to make a point that Hird needed to go (that zaka definitely didn't make) wasn't part of your stated "woke up this morning and Hird has to go because this is a business with millions of stakeholders" agenda. The fact that it's one of a number of these posts you made since you declared this mornings agenda confused me.

C’mon, a guy walking into a theatre & killing multiple innocents is an atrocity. This is a travesty, not an atrocity. You are over reaching & over emotive in your zeal.

fair enough, no these points are separate, im not the deleting posts type if my mind changes. I do think that if it were up to me the way forward is via a gracious exit of Jim, but, Quite literally I listened to that interview again after I posted that thing early this morning, and it made me realise that if the players feel that their best shot of regaining their mental and emotional well-being is with Hird, or without him, what we think doest mean ■■■■. We back them. Bias to any one person put aside.
