David Evans, wasn’t it?
It’s all David Evan’s fault that bastard
Apparently anything above the cap attracts a tax. The tax varies: for $500k over the limit, the tax is 200%, presumably it costs the club $1.5M to go over by $500K.
However, 2 coaches have left, so the head count is already down by say, $200K for the remainder of the year. Bank that, then next season the $800k overs for Brad would come down to $400k if those 2 coaches were not replaced, so presumably the cost to replace Brad with a new coach will cost the club around $1.2M. Not too bad. If we kept the same head coach regime going, loss of gate receipts and memberships in 2027 would probably excede $10M
Oh… and I forgot sponsorships !!!
Or Auction off a couple of Toll Holdings B double trucks.
So, its also about how much a Longmire would cost. Supply and demand applies, and it would probably be Longmires last gig, so he would definitely be asking more than aspirants like Hird, and the other current assistants.
The risk for any coach needs to be factored into a decision to go for it. Failure might be career ending, as it was for the last 6 EFC coaches.
The Japs who bought Toll paid over double the real worth of Toll, so Paul Little laughed all the way to the bank. I suspect he is good for it.
If we have a choice between Longmire and Hird then Happy Birthday to Us.
We’ll get the burnt out Longmire who just wants a pay cheque version Worstfold 2.1
Everyone turned on Brad wont take long to turn on Longmire
Why aren’t we looking at Goodwin. He is the most recent premiership coach, knows the club.
Does he bring the good gear?
Buckley is my preference of the experienced coaches if we go that way. I reckon he’ll be really good second time round. Really evolved as a person and leader and getting great tutelage under Scott. Also high profile enough to manage a big club like ours. Longmire will be another worsfold imo.
He was the Head Coach and as such was accountable. It’s not that hard a concept to understand. It shows that he was not prepared for the role the last time he was parachuted into it and since he’s done ■■■■ all personal development in this space since leads me to assume that he won’t be prepared for the role yet again.
Would love him but you would think he is off to Tassie.
Weren’t there reports that one of his weaknesses was communicating to players?
How do you know? Just because he hasn’t been as assistant coach doesnt mean he has been doing other off-field stuff to improve.
He had a lot more freedom where he was and choices that he could make unlike our club.
When you let corporate committees pick your leader, you end up with a clinical, uninspiring football department that fractures at the first sign of pressure. Youll get a polished candidate who speaks fluent corporate-jargon over a magnetic leader like Hird. Independent corporate panels are designed by nature to be risk-averse.
Just like Voss and Brad
Except out most recent coach who the board headhunted
TBF to him he won’t have to worry about losing another GF if he is coaching us
Do you understand how hard it is to even get there?
His win % is also one of the best of all time for the amount of games he coached. He is a very good coach.
