The positive thread. find something, anything

When your one year old starts pointing at their mum and dad and saying ‘mama’ and ‘dada’.

Oof. Makes even a twisted bitter man like myself melt.

Seems like the only place in the city where you can see a tree or two.

Even better. A trip where work had paid , your family/partner had tagged along, so you have to be given agardening leave as well.

(And get paid to stay there of course)

There’s a bar in the CBD that I wound up at one night that was outdoors and legit like walking into a Junge. Had a tiki type vibe to it. Cannot for the life of me remember where it was but there were trees and vines aplenty.

Did they also have a golden toilet?

…I’m going to say maybe

Steam train just randomly turned up at Flinders.
That’s pretty cool.

Is karma really a thing? I’m less sceptical about it after this week’s events.

A tradie working next door on Monday took off at the end of the day, leaving one of his expensive tools on the nature strip. I grabbed it for safe keeping before anybody pinched it, tracked him down via Facebook and arranged for the item’s safe return. He was most grateful. It was clearly the right thing to do and no special big deal.

Today on my long walk, I realised that I’d lost my keys through a hole in my pocket. Retraced my steps to no avail and started to stress out. Decided to pop into the cop shop on the off chance that they had been handed in … and there they were behind the counter. Thank you anonymous Portland person, your honest actions were a huge relief.

Fark Carlton lost again

Just found a $20 note in the pocket of a pair of jeans I haven’t worn in at least two years.

Didn’t have to watch Essendon this weekend.

Agree. We’re mostly conflicted. Many sort of hope to finish really low on the ladder (maximise draft hand) but at the same time go boonta if we don’t win on the weekend! It’s a peculiar reality this year.

Anyhow, not playing means stress free weekend not ruined by a likely loss!

Spending a couple of days at Mrs Furious’ aunts place on the Mornington Peninsula for a weekend away. The aunts partner passed away a couple of years ago and she told me “help yourself to any of his stuff in the shed, I’m never going to use any of it”.

Fark me, he was a lovely guy, but he was also a bit of a hoarder. It’s like Aladdin’s cave of tools and knick knacks in there. So far I have a drill press, air compressor, router, electric planer, calipers, all the ancillaries to go with them all, several boxes of hand tools, heaps of unopened boxes of screws, nails, and bolts, welding kit, binoculars, SLR film cameras (with assorted lenses), tool boxes, etc. I’ve also got the option to take a bunch of good framing timber as well.

I’ve got a bunch of garden projects on the to do list, and they all just got a hell of a lot cheaper and easier.
