Kyoto is great but it’s harder to get around given the different bus / train companies. It’s supposed to get easier soon for the tourists coming for the Olympics in 2020.
I did enjoy Osaka as well. Osaka is sort of like the shopping city.

Serious question. Mrs diggers and I have been together 20 years, have 2x children, properties, a business together but have never even considered getting married. We’re not religious so don’t feel compelled for that reason and the law generally affords defactos the same rights and obligations as it does for married couples. I get why other people choose to get married but I’m yet to come to terms as why people spend so much money on a day out for everyone else when you could spend the money on yourselves, get married somewhere nice and have a cracking good time?
