As do I. I’m just stating the facts.
ok, how about he’s just no good?
and this was with Reid and Ridley injured for long periods. As a club, we sometimes struggle to let go of mediocre nice guys.
I’d much rather we took Hoare and give him the twelves months to develop with the afl squad.
At least he has the height to be a proper key defender
How tall is he?
Think hoare is close to 200cm
I think he is 198ish
Except we knew when we ‘bought him’ he wouldn’t be available for 12 months (partly due to our conservative management). So from the point where he was meant to be available, he’s been available almost 66% of the time and had one major injury. That is fact.
The not good enough statement is also just plain rubbish, let alone facts. He should have got way more games than he did, and part of the reason he didn’t was us switching his positions and Brad prioritising Lav and Weideman.
Right…
That is of course a matter of opinion. I would say he shapes to be a very good AFL footballer. So, it sounds like our opinions differ on that front.
Hell, this time last year my vague memory from comments in the training threads was many Blitzers expected him to be a lock for the best 22.
Just because you perform well at training, doesn’t make you an AFL player. I have made my opinion on Baldwin well known for at least 2 years. He does not have the physical attributes to go with someone of his height.
So if he’s only play 23 vfl games and 8 afl games in those three season out of a possible 68ish games taking away for bye rounds means he has only played 45 percent of games.
I don’t really see how Weid was prioritised over Baldwin, weid played forward nearly every game expect the last one in the afl while Baldwin was back the whole time.
Also if he was a very good afl player he wouldn’t have been delisted and fighting for a spot someone would have picked him immediately, I think maybe you might be wearing to thick rose coloured glasses on this one.
The Bombers are also considering three players to fill their final list spot. They are likely to wait until Saturday’s AFL and VFL practice matches against the Bulldogs before finalising their decision.
Delisted defender Kaine Baldwin – who was added to the club’s list as an SSP selection ahead of the 2020 season – kept training with the Bombers this summer in the hope of regaining his spot via the SSP process. Swan Districts’ forward Tom Edwards began training with the Bombers in late January and remains in contention, as does VFL-signed player Will Hoare. Former Brisbane Lion Jaxon Prior joined the club via the SSP process as soon as the period opened.
Bye bye Baldwin
Time to shut this thread i think…
This is gunna be renamed ‘The Edwards’ thread isn’t it?
Edwards was fantastic today but im personally not seeing it as a shut case.
He mustn’t of had many more than 6 touches and yes he made the most of them but a close checking geelong defence might bring him back to earth.
Personally im not keen on bringing in another medium forward so i would skip the SPP and hit the mid season draft.
I agree. It’s hard to be sure on a half of footy. He looked good, took an impressive mark and was well positioned in another couple. He’s very slight. He couldn’t have been more impressive today though. Still want to see him in another performance to see how sturdy he is.
That said, he’s created a conundrum hasn’t he!
He doesn’t get another chance. SSP cut off is before the cats game.
I think we sign him early this week. I wouldn’t be shocked if another club tries to pinch him either
It’s a no brainer you take the guy who can kick goals and take hangers over the guy who has barely been on the park and hasn’t shown a great deal when he has
It would be such a typically conservative Essendon move to pick Baldwin over Edwards
