Well said. Josh Eyre played well as a defender in Pies VFL.
They are looking for long term replacement for Murphy.
We clearly do not have the right high performance team
Hope Scott/ Vozzo combo can correct decades long malaise.
Make sense now as they probably invited him to train once they learnt of the Baldwin injury

The reigning premier can afford the luxury of signing a speculative player on pure potential.
Especially one who fills a specific need and has had 12 months of development in their system.
Definitely a stretch to draw any conclusions about a perceived lack of talent given the history of guys persistently overlooked who go on to have pretty successful careers.

Thats fair, but you would think with the shortage of key positions players they have and the doubt over Murphy they would sign a mature ready to go player as they are in the window to win flags, not a potential injury prone player.
Granted there’s probably a lack of quality ready-made key defenders who, no doubt the club would like to sign to cover for Baldwin but doesn’t mean there’s no depth of talent across the competition.
We are one of the fortunate teams who have quite reasonable depth in that position so don’t see it as a major concern.
Lose one or two more then could be in trouble.
Meanwhile, we delisted our VFL B&F

It’s not uncommon. Winning a VFL best and fairest means that you’re playing a lot of VFL games, i.e. not considered good enough, or ready, for the next level. Proof will be in the pudding with Voss. Let’s see.

but again the problem was that he was not even remotely being considered and they had jones who isn’t ready and questionably not good enough either and weedman who isn’t good enough.
we will never know what he could have been, however it’s the decision making and the justifications for it that ■■■■ supporters off, when you’ve got a top 10 is it draft pick not being able to kick a single goal for 6-7 odd weeks, surely “good enough and ready” aren’t the contributing factors as to why voss wasn’t being picked, again when the player who is being picked has been proven a long time a go to not be good enough.

Both Jones and Weideman are taller, actually fly for marks and can at times take them against taller kpd of the comp. Structurally they want the key talls to be at least bringing the ball to ground.
The goals being scored isn’t always the most sought after factor, same goes for small fwds where pressure/tackling is the main kpi they seem to have player focus on.
Goals will come to the team if team doing the right things
Voss’s overhead game & vertical leap was not his strong suit, nor would he have been viewed like a genuine kpf, that’s the main reason he was wasn’t getting a game IMO on top of him still learning running patterns as a kpf at VFL level which was commented on by coaches - he would have been being considered more in the 3rd tall type of which we already had Langford & Stringer doing so. He was behind them.
Hunter retained over Voss as he is a genuine kpf marking option

VFL B&F isn’t some sign of amazing talent being hard done by
Phillips was picked up by no one until now, Hawks done it only due to Blanck ACL this week
Voss had Freo looking at him as they’ve had injuries themselves to fwd line options, good on him for getting rookie spot with them

The other factor I expect behind delisting is Voss supposedly a party boy and BDB/Merrett put the foot down on players who aren’t buying in to being professional and living an AFL lifestyle
And since we were eyeing off Caddy in the draft as well that was the end of him
