The Reigning Dj King (Mk XIII) is @nobody...it's Blonde DJ Time again with @mrjez being at his divisive best (Part 1)

Let’s not get vocoder and auto tune mixed up here either.

Indeed…

Look, I say all this as someone who sings sharp, who is an extremely limited vocalist and uses autotune on his recordings. But… I will not use it to the point where I can hear it, and I will never make it perfectly tuned throughout.

If it can’t be corrected without being noticeable it needs another take. I reckon you can adjust by no more than +/- 50 ct before you can hear it, perhaps not even that…

5 Yasmine Hamdan - Hal (Arabic music is beautiful, really liked this)
4 Kavinsky - Nightcall
3 Iggy Pop - Lust for Life
2 Magazine - Light Pours Out of Me
1 Franka Potente - Believe

5 - NIN - Dead Souls
The Crow is in the top 5 of my all time favourite movie and this song captures the mood of the story. Cracking soundtrack

4 - Hans Zimmer - Time
Only watched the movie once but that was just a beautiful composition

3 - Aretha Franklin - Think
Blues Brothers movie highlight. Aretha just belting out the song, so good even Jake and Elwood can’t help but dance.

2 - Oingo Boingo - Weird Science
One of my favourite 80’s songs and any movie that tries to create a computer generated version of Kelly Le Brock is alright with me

1 - Rage Against The Machine - No Shelter
It’s RATM. Need we say anymore.

Apologies for the delay - went to the matinee performance of Hamilton the musical this afternoon. ■■■■■■■ brilliant

I saw Hamilton last week, yes, it is brilliant.

That was really sweet. I think I’ve posted this before, but when I played clarinet, my last teacher was in his 90’s. Mentally sharp as a tack, was still driving and doing other odd jobs around the place. I think he actually played for Essendon reserves in the 1920’s or 30’s. Apparently he had to stop teaching for medical reasons and died shortly after (I’d stopped playing by then). He was 100.

I think I am going to make a spotify playlist of most of these songs…so good and very hard to narrow down.

5: Mud Honey & Sir Mix a Lot - haven’t seen the movie but this is a top 5 all time soundtrack…could have chosen any song on there
4: Post Malone - Sunflower - amazing movie and I reluctantly love the song
3: Hans Zimmer - Nothing to add to everyone else’s praise
2: Boom Crash Opera - Had largely forgotten about them. Currently have Great Wall on repeat
1: Daft Punk - perfect group to do that soundtrack

Bring on the punk / metal

Who votes on the punk and/or metal songs?

Just the finalists. (I’ve just recently decided, so we can get through things a bit quicker)

5 votes: Goblin (track #9)
Evocative music.

4 votes: Oingo Boingo (track #24)
Love a lot of Danny Elfman’s work. I should’ve just played SpiderPig or even just the Simpsons Main Theme and been done with it…

3 votes: Boom Crash Opera (track #3) - I’m going to assume this is the track you were complaining about being different from the movie version @mrjez (prob not, but it is…)

2 votes: West Coast Post Art Exp Band (track #29)
Odd, interesting

1 vote: Aretha Franklin (track #1)
Great movie…

HM: Lindsey Buckingham: so very nearly picked this for shiits and giggles. Should’ve as it’s turned out…

That makes it a bit more interesting. I’ll have to see who is in the final before i decide on which track I’ll play from the one that I’ve short-listed.

No, not BCO, a song that gave you a more vivid experience than listening to the studio track whilst staring at an album cover on your screen.

I thought about it too, but then I listened and it sounded so terrible and thin.

Oh, it’s a terrible song. I thought it was recorded specifically for the movie but no, turns out there’s a different video for it that’s completely unrelated to the film.

8 voters left.

Probably 5-6 DJ’s are pretty safe, but now only 7 votes separate 10th, and 20th overall.

it’s close.

It’s a disgrace that this song is outpolling a lot of great tracks.
