Was in the beer garden at the retreat in Brunswick some years ago, and Amanda Palmer was at the next table. All these people kept coming up to her and hugging her. Turned out it was basically a social media flashmob organised by Neil Gaiman for her birthday or something like that.

A girl once offered to take me up to Sydney to see a secret Amanda Palmer gig that she’d got tickets to.
She was going to pay for flights and a hotel room.
Unfortunately, she was… Well, not my type is the polite way to say it, and I got the feeling I’d have to pay for that trip in some capacity.
So I stayed home. Apparently the gig was great.
