No it exists because a ■■■■■■■ beer company thought they could play indentify politics as a marketing ploy to get more consumers. People are always going to be outraged and offended by even the smallest things…but people especially hate political messaging coming from products they consume. They also hate prioritisation over various segments over thiers. It’s a good way to lose customers.
You need not have posted anything else. It’s friggin bonkers, this one.
They gave a six pack of beer to one trans kid and asked them to promote a competition they were running to their audience. Amongst every other marketing angle they use.
And this has been seized on by idiots to inflate it into something it need never have been.
It’s definitely a problem. And likely to become more so.
If you are pained by any external thing, it is not this thing that disturbs you, but your own judgment about it. And it is in your power to wipe out this judgment now. Marcus Aurelius
How is a person who is allowed to compete a cheat ?
I don’t thi k it’s woke as such, I think people are trying to be inclusive of a minority who is often marginalised.
Having said that, I agree that the issue of competitive sports needs to be addressed. I don’t have the answers, and liked some tough calls need to be made.
Yep, they’re competing under the allowed rules.
Whether those should be the rules is altogether a different thing.
Do you agree with those rules?
In general, no. I think trans sporting competition is fraught with difficulties , especially at the lower levels. Unfortunately.
OK, that is a balanced opinion. The whole reason that the whole Trans thing has blown out of proportion is because of a biological male who has transitioned to become a female has the ability to compete in female events. Nearly every argument I hear when discussing Trans people ends with the sports argument.
I agree. I think perhaps an argument can be mounted if the person transitioned before puberty. But I think there is a biological unfairness unfortunately.
I think in the purpose of trying to be inclusive, they are having a significantly detrimental impact on those the rules were originally in place to protect.
I don’t think Trans people should compete at professional levels until they work it all out. What if you were an athlete that happened to fall in the window of ambiguity and your personal results were impacted for ever…your opportunity tainted. What a ■■■■ position to be in.
It is nothing to do with fairness, the argument is all about discrimination and the fear that certain groups want to push to get their agenda in play.
In any sport, there are players of different shapes and sizes, and that includes males, female and everything else. Watch AFLW and see that often opponents can be maybe 30 kg or more diffrent in weight, always still a contest. Nick Hind 70 kg, Sam Draper 100 kg; who would win a race, who kicks better, who wins a ruck contest .
Very rare that a trans person who now is female dominates a sport, not sure there is one, Bruce Jenner dominated the Decathlon, wonder how Caitlyn Jenner would have gone against the women.
There is undoubtedly bigotry and discrimination at play for some people.
But the whole "there are size differences in female sport anyway " completely misses the point imo.
The trans in female sports issue is a real issue and others mentioned a very complicated issue. However it’s an issue for female sports their players and governing bodies to work through. Me as a male, my opinion means Jack. Women and girls don’t need to be saved by me and my opinion, they can work it out themselves whatever the outcome is.
So what is the point if it is not about competitive advantage. Girls were stopped playing footy vs boys for years with that excuse.
Those differences exist within the same biological sex. But a female, born as a man, and has gone through puberty as a man before transition benefits from testosterone with greater muscle mass and strength. It’s not fair, but do understand the discrimination etc is playing a part.
It’s fine to have an opinion. You’re not making the final decisions so that’s fine, there is no consequence to you offering an opinion.
Bacchus is right about the size/strength thing being a bit of a furphy. Nobody said anything about the contrast between Aaron Sandilands and Caleb Daniel.
But it’s not even that. There’s leagues for men and women. One playing in the other compromises the integrity of the competition. People, me included, are gonna call BS on that.
I think in the meantime until this is sorted out they should just create a trans category. If that’s a single person competing then that’s how it needs to be. People can use their official scores/times to compare against other sexes if need be.
