Too much optimism this week re youngsters being blooded. Tempting the good graces of the footy gods. Not many expect the Dons to win but there’s a sense of expectation re the future direction.
So naturally what will happen? Essendon’s best will be Goddard, Baguley & Hooker and all the newcomers will be horrid performers. Call me a cynic, but if one thing can be relied upon, it is that Essendon will find a way to disappoint.

The disappointment will come from the realisation that Clarke should of been selected in RD 1.

We have never been a trend setter in the last 17 years. Be it game plan or strategy. Be it development. Be it drafting. Be it bringing in good people into our club, staff or players. Be it culture.
We don’t have anyone who can think outside the box.

What I mean is Essendon come out all guns blazing and kick the first 2 goals,Geelong answer with 2 quick ones and then a dodgy free in front of goal to Selwood which puts them in front killing any momentum we had after that it’s just a matter of how much we lose by.

Interesting question / against Collingwood last week he looked more keen thcn usual on rolling the tackles up the arms towards the neck.
