The Teams GWS vs Essendon

I have watched our game through afl app and highlights of others. Would have watched some more if on free to air tv tho.

Happy I got a free afl live pass this year. Thanks to filling up afl fantasy league.

Annoying that I can’t stream games to the tv with Apple TV. since updated the afl app an efc app. Need to stream bomber tv from YouTube now.

Have you tried streaming it to Apple TV without mirroring it on your device. That was a fix that worked last year.

I have old iphone 4 can’t mirror!
An tried mirroring on iPad didn’t work either.

Should be a better game. Now, if only it was being televised free to air.

Seems strange that in Victoria when there is a world cup on and AFL footy, the only consistent sport being shown on free to air is rugby. AFL missing a trick.

I noted that last week…don’t have foxtel so looking for a sporting fix, I watched NRL on both Friday and Saturday…strangely enough, I enjoyed both games

Na. League is about hits. Its about hurting players. Union is far better IMO. Players also get hit but its not the aim of the game like league.

Much stronger midfield , strengthened forward line…Gwilt will help Marigliani and Freezer a lot.
Half back line will settle in a bit. Great to see Ashby/Gleeson get more game time at AFL level.
Should be competitive against a much better team than St Kilda but I expect to achieve a similar result to last week.
GWS might be difficult to beat even if we are at full strength.

I love how Gwilt has gone from a dud/very average player to Harry Taylor in one pre-season.

Look I’m not saying I don’t like Gwilt as I think he is quite a tidy player.

But the way some people are carrying on about him is ridiculous.

“GWILT IS GOING TO DRASTICALLY IMPROVE OUR BACKLINE”

We’re playing another team with an extra match under their belts. all i’m hoping for is an injury-free outcome and the listed players to get their hands on the footy a bit.

Last time I looked, Freezer and Marigliani had racked up 2 AFL games between them. Gwilt has 126 games at AFL level. I thought my comment was quite measured. Anyway. I appreciate the joke. He's not quite the messiah, but he is good value insurance.

My reference to Gwilt strengthening the back line was in reference to last weeks team who’s most experienced afl defenders were ashby and gleeson. An experienced old head like Gwilt would be like a general to the kids.

Their squad looks pretty weak?

I think it should be a close match.

It’s a guy who will be playing his very first game for the club with a bunch of players he has known for 4 months and the rest (top up players) a couple of weeks.

He may play well himself but the rest of the backline isn’t.

I like him but he’ll make little difference to our defence IMO.

Kidding? Farkin smash em

Remember they used to call Alec Epis “tank” or the Kookaburra, He was a great premiership line breaker half back. Not suggesting Gwilt is better than on the cusp of best 22 selection, but he is a bit of a “tank” and has very powerful legs and well, I think you might be surprised because he has been quite impressive in the pre-season winning the ball, breaking tackles and distributing the ball by hand or foot. Anyway … my last word on Gwilt until Friday night…

Anyone going to the game. Got very lucky. Was meant to pull in to Cairns this weekend but the weather meant that option was not viable, so we are sailing back to Sydney instead. Very happy to get the opportunity to go see at least some of the boys in action.

Improve the back line from last week. Read the whole post, I thought it was pretty clear

Yeah LB they’ll be a few of us NSW Bombers there
We usually congregate / shuffle about up the northern end concourse under the scoreboard - approx 15 paces from the bar !
PM me if you wanna come say hi or hang out with some fellow bombers

McKenna stays. How good.

Is Zakka’s inclusion an indication of our vibes re: tribunal?

It’s the first thing re- selection that’s actually made me think ‘the club expects this to be the last week of suspended players’

Should be in with half a shot this week

more than half a shot, that team would have beaten st kilda
