Does it really matter for an individual sport? It’s not like we say Australia won 2002 Wimbledon. We recognise and say that Lleyton Hewitt was the winner.
Sabalenka is the best love her so much
Well then remove countries for all players.
Barely gets a mention anywhere but Purcell and Thompson won the Men’s Doubles crown
Surprised how easy Sinner won i thought Fritz would at least take a set or make it go to 5
I wasn’t surprised at all. Fritz isn’t in the same league as Sinner.
I must admit, I find it a little difficult to swallow seeing Sinner win slams post positive drug tests - while we had 34 blokes cop 12 months based on circumstantial evidence.
It bs isn’t it. our club was made the scape goat for a wide league problem Essendon wasn’t the only club pushing the envelop with supplements.
Simona Halep lost some of her career with a ban wonder how she must feel seeing Sinner play.
True i thought he would at least take a set from him
Watching the end of the match did Jim Courier sound a bit flat lols
It’s just such a pity for mine that in an instant, the gloss has come off Jannik Sinner to the point where the general punter now derides him and hates seeing him achieve success. This is a guy who alongside Carlos Alcaraz is the future of the sport and carries himself incredibly well on and off the court.
I get why, because of the differences in how it is being managed in his case compared to how it would have been if it was a nobody player or if it were a player from say Russia, or indeed compared to what Halep and others have gone through in recent times. I get that, and you can understand that perspective.
But I just think it’s sad.
And call me gullible but I do actually believe the narrative and view him as a fair competitor. One billionth of a milligram, which seems to lend weight to the massage cream theory, and all of a sudden you are tarnished for the rest of your career. Social media comments right now with any content to do with him is just completely savage at the moment. I think any grievances should be more with the governing body more than him personally.
Kyrgios has also never failed a drug test…but that’s probably just a minor detail.
No love lost between Sinner and Kyrgios. It doesn’t help that Kyrgios does not think before he posts on twitter.
Gadecki into the final at Guadalajara. She moves into the top 100 women and replaces Daria as Australia’s #1 woman.
Gadecki has made the most of the week after a major when seeds fall like confetti. She has done well to get in the top 100, but, in saying that Aussie women’s tennis has a bare cupbaord for the next two or three years.
Reportedly, Sinner said he was disappointed and surprised.
Speculation that WADA is seeking a suspension of 1-2 years.
